Liverpool stormed to the Premier League title in a record-breaking season.

For all their success in the old First Division, this was actually the first Premier League campaign that ended with a Reds captain lifting the trophy above their head.

It's been a long time coming and was well worth the wait.

Liverpool were untouchable at times and it seemed as though they would go on to match Arsenal's famous 'Invincibles' season - only to fall to defeat against Watford in February.

But fear not, it was still a record-breaking campaign for the Merseyside club.

In fact, according to AS, Jugen Klopp's team broke or matched a ridiculous 13 records this season.

Let's check out what they were:

1. Liverpool won the title with seven games to spare, eclipsing Manchester United (2000-01) and Manchester City (2017-18) who sealed their respective titles with five games left.

Liverpool secured the title early

2. The Reds are the first-ever team to win the league in eight different decades - 1900s, 1920s, 1940s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2020s.

3. Liverpool's 3-1 victory against Newcastle on the final day was their 32nd win of the season, equalling Man City's record for the most victories in a single PL campaign.

4. The 2-0 win over Aston Villa on 5 July at Anfield extended their record of successive home wins in the league to 24. The previous record was Man City's 20.

Liverpool set record vs Villa

5. Beating West Ham in February was their 18th consecutive league win, equalling Man City's record - Liverpool then lost their next game to Watford.

6. By beating Norwich in February, Liverpool moved 25 points clear of Man City at the top, which was the biggest lead in Premier League history.

7. The 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on 11 January saw Liverpool set a new record for points gained from the first 21 games in any of Europe's top five leagues (61).

Records were set vs Spurs too

8. With that same win, the Reds also set the record for most points gained across a 38-match spell in the Premier League (104), surpassing 102-point totals by Man City and Chelsea.

9. For the first time in the club's history, Liverpool beat all 19 other top-flight teams in a single campaign.

10. Liverpool won 18 of their 19 games at home, matching the achievements of Chelsea (2005-06), Man City (2011–12, 2018–19) and Man United (2010-11).

The Reds were impressive at home

11. They also picked up 55 points from those home games, the joint-most alongside Chelsea (2005-06), Man United (2010-11) and Man City (2011-12).

12. Liverpool set a new club record of 14 away wins in a league campaign.

13. Mohamed Salah became the first Liverpool player to score 20 goals in all competitions in three consecutive seasons since Michael Owen did so between 2000-01 and 2002-03.

Salah set a record of his own

There are a fair few impressive records there that show just how brilliant Liverpool have been this season.

We back them to go and break a few more next year, too.
