5 Alfredo Morelos replacements that Rangers FC must consider this summer

Rangers FC are facing a pivotal few weeks as they prepare for the new season.

With Celtic eyeing a 10th league title in a row, Steven Gerrard's side are determined to stop their rivals from reaching the landmark.

But the task facing Gerrard could be trickier than first thought.

That's because Rangers are on the cusp of losing their star striker, Alfredo Morelos.

Reports over the weekend have suggested that the 24-year-old has agreed personal terms with French side Lille over a permanent move.

While a deal is not yet finalised, Gerrard will be keen to line up a replacement as soon as possible to ensure that his side are not left in the lurch with the new season due to start this weekend.

Here we take a look at five key contenders to replace Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox.

Lyle Taylor

The striker is available on a free transfer this summer after rejecting a new contract with Charlton.

Taylor scored 11 goals in 22 appearances for the struggling Addicks last term, while scoring 25 in the season before.

The frontman almost guarantees goals and given the fact that he's available for nothing could mean that he's a huge coup for the Scottish giants.

Joe Gelhardt

The 18-year-old has established himself as the prized asset at Wigan Athletic after bursting onto the scene.

Unfortunately for the Latics, their financial struggles mean that they're destined to lose him for a hugely discounted price.

Very much one for the future, this could be a very shrewd move for Rangers as they target a long-term investment - however questions would remain over whether he's able to hit the ground running at Ibrox.

Kemar Roofe

A player who has been regularly linked with a move to Glasgow this summer.

The former Leeds United man is said to be available for a fee of around £6million, and after racking up seven in 16 appearances last term, it seems he'd offer the required goals to take Rangers forward.

This is certainly one to watch.

Ivan Toney

A player who is wanted by just about everyone this summer.

After scoring 24 goals for Peterborough United last summer, the former Newcastle man is attracting interest from clubs such as Brentford, Watford, Leeds United and West Brom.

It's likely that a deal could cost around £10million, but given his age and goalscoring record I'm sure he'd repay that fee in no time at all.

Josh Maja

A new target that's emerged in the last few days.

The former Sunderland man is said to have opened talks with Rangersover a move after a decent season with French side Bordeaux.

At 21 years of age, Maja is a player who is ready to kick on and could be a first team regular for many years to come after racking up a decent amount of first team experience for his young age.
