Another Premier League campaign came to an end on Sunday and how it delivered.
Liverpool were already Premier League champions but the relegation battle conjured up drama right until the final whistle.
Watford went 3-0 down but then fought back against Arsenal, ultimately losing 3-2. Bournemouth did their best, beating Everton, but ultimately, Jack Grealish's goal for Aston Villa proved decisive.
It was quite something that Dean Smith's men managed to stay in the division - had they lost to the Gunners last midweek, they'd have gone down.
It was a season of ifs and buts, particularly with the Cherries only going down because of the goalline technology failing to work when Villa played Sheffield United last month.
It was a crazy season, certainly as far as the technology was concerned.
However, some of the players were also in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Premier League club's spent a fortune last summer but there were some spectacularly poor signings, especially when you consider the money thrown at players.
Though, who were the worst of the lot?
GIVEMESPORT has compiled a list of the ten worst additions to the top-flight this season...
Joelinton:
What a shambolic waste of money this turned out to be. Mike Ashley finally delved deep into his pockets and after this foray, it's hardly a surprise that for so long, Newcastle failed to break their transfer record.
Joelinton cost Newcastle a colossal £40m but scored just two Premier League goals in 38 outings. It's a record that owes much to Steve Bruce's negative style of play, but even so, the Brazilian struggled to hit a barn door with a banjo.
Albian Ajeti:
West Ham signed the young striker for a price of £8m last summer, but like Joelinton, struggled in front of goal.
The 23-year-old failed to start a Premier League game and played just eight times - costing £1m per league outing so far. Ajeti is yet to score for the Hammers and with a loan move to Celtic on the cards, he'll have to wait longer to find the back of the net in an Irons shirt.
David Luiz:
At first glimpse, Arsenal's move for Luiz at a price of just £8m looked fairly shrewd. The defender may have his nightmare moments but this was an experienced defender with multiple honours arriving for a bargain fee.
Luiz may have added personality and leadership to the defence but some of his performances were diabolical. He gave away five penalties and made a further two errors leading to goals this term - he simply wasn't worth the gamble.
Danny Drinkwater:
In all senses of the word, Drinkwater has been a flop. The midfielder cost Chelsea £35m and subsequent loan moves to Burnley and Aston Villa this term failed to pay off.
The former title winner with Leicester made five appearances all season and could only muster a WhoScored average rating of 5.78 for the season. He desperately needs to find a new home.
Che Adams:
At £15m, it looked as though Adams could be the main man for Southampton. He was nominated for the Championship Player of the Season last term after starring for Birmingham but it wasn't to be in 2019/20.
It took him until the restart to score his first goal for the club and although he's found the net in four of his last six outings, he simply wasn't worth the money. Here's hoping Ralph Hasenhuttl gets more out of him next campaign.
Jesus Vallejo:
It's hard to remember the Spaniard ever playing this term, such was his anonymity for Wolves this season.
The Real Madrid defender arrived as a statement of intent - the Midlanders had explored one of Europe's greats for a loan signing but he really didn't fit in at Molineux.
The 23-year-old returned to Spain in January after making just two Premier League outings.
Alex Iwobi:
The winger was a breath of fresh air when he burst into the Arsenal team for the first time. However, it was really no surprise to see the north Londoners cash in on a mega £35m for the Nigerian last summer.
It's safe to say that the Gunners aren't missing him. Everton royally wasted their money on Iwobi who scored just once and failed to contribute a single assist in 2019/20. He is just 24 but you have to feel he is lacking the potential to make it an adequate level.
Roberto:
The West Ham goalkeeper was absolutely pathetic between the sticks and has to go down as one of the worst to grace the division in his position.
He made mistake after mistake, scoring an own goal and making two individual errors in just eight Premier League matches - in that time, he also conceded 17 times. Shambolic is an understatement.
Tanguy Ndombele:
Spurs' record-signing very quickly became one of the worst value for money signings in recent memory.
The Frenchman struggled under Mauricio Pochettino and has already fallen out with Jose Mourinho.
Ndombele reportedly doesn't want to play under the Portuguese again and who can blame him? He has played just twice since football restarted last month. Over the course of the season, he started only 12 times. For a fee of £55m, you'd expect a lot more.
VAR:
The video assistant referee was a ridiculous state of affairs this season. Brought in at the start of the campaign, it was thought that it would save the division from controversial decisions. However, it only added more.
Whether it was inconsistencies with red cards, offside calls being drawn down to the very smallest fraction or decisions that weren't conclusively clear and obvious being overturned, it was a strange debacle. For everyone involved, you hope the Premier League sort VAR out in time for the new season in September.
