It’s been a strange old Premier League season. One like no other we’ve ever seen before.It began on August 9, 2019 and finished on July 26, 2020. At one point, it wasn’t certain that it would even finish at all.The coronavirus pandemic saw the campaign halted for over three months before play finally resumed in mid-June.Liverpool deservedly sealed the title with an extraordinary 99-point tally; Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea finished inside the top four, while Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich City were relegated to the Championship.As the dust settles on the season, we thought we’d look back to some of the funniest moments of the campaign.These are the standout moments that made us all laugh over the course of the past 11 months, so in no particular order…Gary Neville in pre-season: 'Man Utd will win league before Liverpool'Ahead of the start of the season, Gary Neville confidently proclaimed that Man Utd would win another Premier League title before Liverpool.“I can guarantee you as clear as day, Manchester United will win again,” the former United captain said. “They will win again, no problem. They’ll probably win a league again before Liverpool, in my opinion.”
Oh, Gary! You win the prize for worst prediction of the season.
Roy Keane’s David de Gea rant
Roy Keane has been typically box office whenever he’s appeared as a pundit this season.
He reserved his most incredible rant for poor David de Gea, who was torn to shreds by the United legend after a mistake against Tottenham in June.
A visibly fuming Keane said he was “sick to death” of the “overrated Manchester United goalkeeper” live on Sky Sports.
Patrice Evra tried sticking up for his former teammate but Keano was having absolutely none of it.
Troy Deeney makes Virgil van Dijk laugh in tunnel
This is undoubtedly one of our favourite funny moments from the season.
Watford captain Troy Deeney said to his mascot: “If you’d paid a bit more money, you could have stood there, next to him!”
Deeney was pointing at Liverpool’s talismanic defender Virgil van Dijk, who turned away in a desperate attempt not to laugh.

Pep Guardiola’s meltdown against Liverpool
Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester City at Anfield back in November was, looking back at it now, a significant moment in the season.
Who knows what might have happened if Liverpool had lost that game.
Guardiola was incensed with the match officials’ decision-making that afternoon and produced one of the funniest moments of the season when he theatrically screamed “TWICE!!!” at the assistant referee.
Then, at full-time, Pep sarcastically shook hands with referee Michael Oliver while repeating: “Thank you so much.”
So salty but all we loved it!

Jose Mourinho's reaction when reminded Sterling was on a yellow card
Tottenham beat Manchester City 2-0 in February in an incident-packed Premier League clash in London.
There was a wonderful moment at the end of the first half when Jose Mourinho shot up off his seat and ran towards the fourth official after being reminded that Raheem Sterling, who appeared to have dived moments earlier, was already on a yellow card.
The Spurs boss was calm under his assistant, Joao Sacramento, reminded him. Then he went bonkers.
A brand new meme was born.
Steve Bruce ‘announces’ De Bruyne to Newcastle
Steve Bruce’s Newcastle lost 2-0 to Manchester City in June. Kevin De Bruyne, on his 29th birthday, got himself on the scoresheet.
The brilliant Belgian midfielder was midway through his post-match interview when he was joined by Bruce, who announced that City’s star man was signing for Newcastle - much to the surprise of the man himself!
“He’s going to stay here,” Bruce said. “That’s an exclusive out of Newcastle tonight. He’s had enough of Manchester City and he’s going to come and play for Newcastle.”

If you've never seen the video of Charlie Nicholas telling Jeff Stelling he should have gone to Specsavers, then do yourself a favour and don't. You'll cringe more than you thought was possible.
The Sky Sports pundit was at it again recently as yet another 'joke' led to nothing but an incredibly awkward silence.
Granit Xhaka makes himself popular with Arsenal fans
Alright, this incident was probably more shocking than funny, but it still raised plenty of smiles from rival football fans.
After being booed by Arsenal's fans while being substituted against Crystal Palace in October, Xhaka ended up telling the same supporters to "f*** off".
The midfielder was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy a couple of weeks later.

We’d be here all day listing our favourite AFTV moments from the past season, but the day Arsenal lost to Brighton in June produced some absolute gold.
This was Ty fuming at ‘cheat’ Neal Maupay, who scored the winning goal in Brighton’s 2-1 win…
The same guy was filmed kicking the air after Brighton’s equaliser…
We also enjoyed the moment someone in the crowd pinched DT’s hat (sorry, DT!) after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in October…

Antonio takes the p*** out of Paul Pogba’s handball
Man Utd played out a 1-1 draw with West Ham at Old Trafford in their penultimate league fixture of the season, and the visitors took the lead through a Michail Antonio penalty.
Paul Pogba was the man who conceded the spot-kick following a ludicrous handball, which Antonio was filmed mocking moments later.
Pogba’s face in the background said it all…
Roberto Firmino’s reaction after the Salah/Mane incident at Burnley
Back in August, Sadio Mane had a meltdown after his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah failed to pass him the ball during an away fixture against Burnley, kicking off on the bench after being subbed off.
As the players made their way back to the visitors’ dressing room, Roberto Firmino gave a priceless look towards the camera while stood in between his fellow forwards.
Bruno Fernandes tells Guardiola to shut it
Bruno Fernandes immediately endeared himself to Manchester United supporters by shushing Man City boss Pep Guardiola back in March.
“I spoke about this with some friends," Fernandes told Sky Sports a week later. "Some people think ‘Pep’s won everything, so who is Bruno to do this to him?’ but I think it’s about respect.
“Now I’m outside of the pitch, I don’t think I’d do this again. But at that moment, the words he said to me made me mad, and on the pitch I’m a little bit… nervous. This is the kind of player I am.
“I have respect for Pep for what he’s done for football, because he changed some mentalities in football, but at that moment he didn’t respect me and so he didn’t deserve me respect at that moment on the pitch.
Alisson's length-of-the-pitch run to Baywatch music
Liverpool moved a significant step closer to sealing their maiden Premier League title back in January when they beat fierce rivals Manchester United 2-0 at Anfield.
Salah scored the Reds' second goal at the death, with goalkeeper Alisson Becker providing the assist.
After the Egyptian scored, Alisson embarked on a length-of-the-pitch run and celebrated with Salah in front of the Kop.
This footage was then set to various soundtracks, including Baywatch...

Harry Kane forced to watch back his dive v Arsenal
A contender for most awkward moment of the 2019-20 season.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane scored a penalty against Arsenal early in the season following what most football fans thought was a blatant dive.
Asked by Geoff Shreeves whether it should have been a penalty, Kane said: “I think so. Obviously I’ll have to watch it back.”
Kane had no idea that Sky Sports were about to show him the footage - and the clip of him watching it back is priceless…
James Milner calling Man Utd ‘f***ing w***ers’
This is funny because it was so unexpected.
James Milner was caught by one of his teammates, much to the delight of Liverpool fans, calling Manchester United "f***ing w***ers" during the Premier League trophy presentation.
So unnecessary!

Matt Ritchie was born and raised in England but has Scottish roots, as was made patently clear during a recent fixture between Brighton and Newcastle.
After a decision went against him, the Scotland international was picked up by the on-pitch microphone screaming at the assistant referee: “How have you given that, you wee d**k?”
