WWE news: Charlotte Flair could follow in The Rock's footsteps

Charlotte Flair is currently off WWE television.

The Queen is a 12-time champion in the company but she has taken time away from the ring to receive surgery on a lingering issue.

With her away, Sasha Banks and Bayley have run roughshod over the women’s division.

Indeed, the former won the WWE RAW Women’s Championship on Monday night, beating Asuka by count-out, while Bayley is the current WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. They also hold the Women’s Tag Team titles.

It is fair to say that a few fans will be keen for the return of Charlotte, then, as she has not wrestled since the end of June, when she was attacked by Nia Jax.

That attack served the purpose of writing Flair off television and talkSPORT now reports that she is mulling over a couple of projects outside of the ring after being inundated with offers.

The report states that Charlotte has been offered television roles, and she is considering whether or not to take them on.

Those offers do not include a reality show, instead a scripted programme for a major US network.

One source quoted in the article says she could even follow in the footsteps of male mega stars John Cena and The Rock by becoming a genuine mainstream star.

They said: “Several agents have said they’d be shocked if she wasn’t the next WWE talent to cross over (into becoming a widely recognisable mainstream star) but who knows? She legit loves wrestling.”

Flair is, of course, one of the most decorated superstars in WWE history, and has constantly been in the main event picture following the Women’s Revolution.

It remains to be seen how long she will be outside of WWE for, but she definitely won’t be wrestling at SummerSlam.
