Lionel Messi is perhaps the most complete footballer ever to grace the beautiful game.

He really does have it all.

The Argentine maestro is a pure finisher, an incredible playmaker and his reading of the game is unmatched.

Messi's greatest strength though, is his dribbling. When the Barcelona superstar gets going, no one can touch him.

The only way to stop him most of the time is to foul him. Then when you concede that free-kick, the chances are he'll probably smash it into the top corner.

For well over a decade now, Messi has been lighting up the pitch with the ball at his feet. In fact, it's unlikely we'll ever see a dribbler as good as him again.

Now that the 2019/20 season has been wrapped up, Marca have been looking over the statistics and they've concluded one thing: Messi is the king of dribbling and has been for over a decade.

Messi is the best dribbler of the last decade

Let's check out the numbers that back that up.

This season, at the age of 33, Messi completed 182 successful dribbles in La Liga, which is almost twice as many as Nabil Fekir, who came second on the list with 98.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Fabian Orellana complete the top four places on this list, with 86 and 69 dribbles each. As you can see, no one came close to matching Messi.

No one can match Messi's dribbling

But, in the rest of Europe's top five leagues, one player did overtake the Barca star this season - Wolves forward Adama Traore.

He completed 183 dribbles in the Premier League this season - which is a pretty impressive feat.

Messi certainly isn't used to seeing someone else's name at the top of the dribbling list.

Incredibly, he's topped La Liga's rankings in six of the last 10 seasons and his record high came in the 2010/11 campaign when he completed 186.

Messi has led the La Liga rankings in dribbling for a decade

To further the suggestion that Messi is the greatest dribbler of all time, we point you to the fact that in the last 12 years, no one in Europe has completed as many dribbles as him.

Unbelievable. His quality really is unmatched.

But just imagine trying to defend against the Barcelona star when he's in full flow. That's something a number of La Liga teams have simply failed to do.

Over the last 12 years, Messi has completed more dribbles against Atletico Madrid than any other club - 146.

Messi enjoys playing Atletico

He also loves playing against Valencia (113 successful dribbles), Espanyol (111) and Real Madrid (100).

Messi has been the best dribbler in the game for well over 10 years and it's highly unlikely we'll ever see anyone like him again, performing so consistently at the very top.

The Argentine's fellow professionals also respect just how good he is, with many going on record to speak about his incredible quality over the years.

"I have never seen anyone like Leo Messi. He is a miracle from God!" Arda Turan once said, per Eurosport

Turan was full of praise for Messi

"I like it when he does his things on the field. It's not jealousy - I feel good, for instance, when he nutmegs someone."

Even Portuguese legend Luis Figo - who played for Barca and Real Madrid - can't help but admire Messi - using a rather interesting comparison...

"For me, to watch Messi play is a pleasure - it’s like having an orgasm - it’s an incredible pleasure."

Messi is incredible with the ball at his feet

Former Barca manager Radomir Antic perhaps summed him up best though, simply saying: "Messi is the Mozart of football."

We're not arguing with you there, Radomir - and his drilling stats over the last decade prove it. Messi might just be the greatest player to ever have the ball at his feet.
