Picking the best individual performance from any Premier League season is mighty tough.The 2019/20 campaign, like all those before it, was home to a wide collection of stellar displays from some of the best players in the world.Narrowing the list down to just 11 was mighty tough, but we've decided to try and give it our best shot.Some may ask: "Where's Bernardo Silva's hat-trick in the 8-0 thrashing of Watford, or Sergio Aguero's treble away at Aston Villa?"While they were great individual performances, they're not ones that will live long in the memory, mainly due to the fact that it was simply a superior team and player destroying inferior opposition.
That's, of course, not a bad thing, but the 11 individual performances below are ones that we believe have a little bit more about them and stand a chance of being brought up in pub conversations for years to come.11. Nick Pope | Liverpool 1-1 Burnley | July 2020What a season it was for Pope, with the Burnley 'keeper managing 15 clean sheets in total. He's also a candidate for England's number one jersey in the eyes of many.His performance away at Liverpool was a stark reminder that he's now one of the best in the business, making eight saves in total as Sean Dyche's side ended the Reds' winning streak at Anfield with a 1-1 draw.After the game, Jurgen Klopp said: "There was always one guy who wanted to deny us and it was Nick Pope."
10. Jack Stephens | Southampton 1-0 Manchester City | July 2020Southampton had to withstand a barrage from City during their 1-0 win at St Mary's Stadium, a game in which Che Adams opened his Premier League account in style.City had 74% possession and mustered 26 shots on goal, but the Saints' defence - marshalled by a brilliant and determined Stephens - stood firm.Stephens threw his body at everything, making 11 clearances and four blocks in total. This was old-school defending at its finest and you know what? It was a joy to watch.
9. Anthony Martial | Manchester United 3-0 Sheffield United | June 2020The first United player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League since Robin van Persie against Aston Villa in 2013.And Martial didn't achieve the feat against a group of relegation dwellers either, the Frenchman notched it against Chris Wilder's talented Sheffield United side.The former Monaco man was at his unplayable best at Old Trafford and he's certainly going to be United's number nine for the foreseeable future.8. Kevin De Bruyne | Arsenal 0-3 Manchester City | December 2019The Belgian was brilliant against the Gunners on the first night of the Premier League's restart as well, but his performance back in December was simply outrageous.De Bruyne's two goals at the Emirates were of the highest order and only a gravity-defying save from Bernd Leno prevented the City midfielder from scoring a hat-trick of worldies.Proof - if it was needed - that the Belgian is the best midfielder in the Premier League by a country mile and arguably the finest on the planet.
7. Emiliano Buendia | Norwich 3-2 Manchester City | September 2019
Remember when Norwich beat Man City 3-2 at Carrow Road at the start of the season? Teemu Pukki was bagging goals for fun and Daniel Farke's side looked capable of avoiding relegation.
Buendia was the definition of 'world-class' that day. He assisted two of Norwich's goals, tore City's suspect defence apart and put in a serious shift to help thwart Pep Guardiola's star-studded attack.
Why Farke dropped the creative Argentine from his starting XI at times during the season is a mystery to us all.
6. Christian Pulisic | Burnley 2-4 Chelsea | October 2019
Scoring a perfect hat-trick is never an easy feat to achieve, but to do so at one of the Premier League's toughest grounds in your debut season is even more difficult.
The goals were Pulisic's first for Chelsea and since his virtuoso display at Turf Moor, the 21-year-old American has gone from strength to strength in English football.
A Premier League superstar was born that chilly October evening.
5. Adama Traore | Wolves 3-2 Manchester City | December 2019
Wolves' lightning-quick winger scored twice at the Etihad to seal a famous 2-0 win against Man City, but that wasn't even his best performance against Guardiola's men in 2019/20.
When a 10-man City strolled into a 2-0 lead at Molineux, Traore clicked into gear and masterminded the comeback of the 2019/20 season.
A goal and an assist from the Spaniard galvanised Wolves when it looked as if the game was done and his infectious brilliance saw the team clinch victory in the final minute of the game through Matt Doherty - absolute scenes!
4. Ismaila Sarr | Watford 3-0 Liverpool | February 2020
The first player in 2019/20 to make Liverpool look like rank amateurs as the Senegalese winger dismembered the Reds' defence with ease to end their unbeaten run.
Sarr scored twice at Vicarage Road that evening and his interview after the game was almost as good as his performance that evening.
The Senegalese winger said: "I'm really, really disappointed because I really wanted the ball today, I had a big chance to get the hat-trick." Talk about an elite mentality...
3. Ben Chilwell | Southampton 0-9 Leicester | October 2019
The night that people checking their phones to see the score in the Friday Night Football simultaneously went: "Na, that can't be right, can it?!"
Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez both scored hat-tricks that night, but we're singling out Chilwell's one-goal, two-assist display instead.
Even against 10-men, the left-back's efforts in the rain at St Mary's were simply magnificent and it's no wonder Chelsea are desperate to sign him this summer.
2. Michail Antonio | Norwich 0-4 West Ham | July 2020
The only player to score four goals in a game during the 2019/20 season.
Antonio's quartet of strikes relegated Norwich at Carrow Road and his heroics also pretty much ensured West Ham's place in the Premier League.
The fact the Hammers forward only takes the silver medal highlights just how ridiculous the performance from our winner was.
1. Trent Alexander-Arnold | Leicester 0-4 Liverpool | December 2019
Sorry Michail, but this was simply one of the greatest performances in Premier League history. A right-back dominating a game of football between two titles contenders - imagine that?!
Liverpool's 4-0 win at the King Power was an awesome display of power and precision from Klopp's side and Alexander-Arnold was the architect behind it all.
The right-back scored once, assisted twice, won a penalty, created chances for fun and dominated defensively. You couldn't have asked for any more from the 21-year-old superstar.
The 2019/20 season was certainly a memorable one and Liverpool fans will never, ever forget the night Alexander-Arnold's brilliance all but sealed their first Premier League crown before the turn of the year.
