Kevin De Bruyne's 2019/20 season is one of the greatest in Premier League history.

While the Belgian's efforts were not enough for Manchester City to halt Liverpool's dominance, the 29-year-old's heroics have made him the firm favourite to be named the PFA Player of the Year.

De Bruyne scored 13 goals and - more importantly - notched 20 assists, equalling the record set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in 2002/03.

Even with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and other world-class players to tee up, De Bruyne's achievement is pretty darn ridiculous.

The Belgian himself believes he broke Henry's record, telling reporters after the 5-0 win over Norwich: "I have got two more [assists]. You guys took two away from me. I'm still claiming that one. For me I was already there."

De Bruyne vs Norwich

Sorry Kevin, but the official Premier League database will always have the number 20 next to your assist column for the 2019/20 season.

However, it could have been so, so different. A video from @mcfci_ showing how De Bruyne was 'let down' by his teammates has gone viral on Twitter.

At the time of writing, the clip has over 2,700 retweets and 7,700 likes and you can watch it in full below.

Sterling, Aguero and Gabriel Jesus were all guilty of some pretty big misses following wonderful pinpoint passes from De Bruyne.

Watching his teammates miss and then another scoring from the resulting rebound must have been immensely frustrating for the Belgian midfield maestro.

Aguero (6 goals) and Sterling (4 goals) were the forwards to benefit most from De Bruyne's seemingly superhuman radar and judging by the video, they should have thrived on the Belgian's passes far more.

But let's forget about stats and assists records for a minute and simply pay tribute to a man who is probably the best creative midfielder the Premier League has ever seen.

De Bruyne in action

De Bruyne's passing range is something English football has never been blessed with before and it's probably safe to say that his status as a 'Premier League legend' has already been secured.
