The new UFC 4 trailer details an entirely overhauled career mode ahead of its release on August 14, and intends to provide players with a wholly authentic experience.

Released by EA Sports, the career mode on UFC 4 affords the player with a variety of progression pathways which allows for a different narrative for each person. These are fighter evolution, relationship system, an unscripted storyline and injury system.

The new format sees every move your fighter makes, both in and out of the cage, as a crucial aspect in developing your career and ultimately dominating the Octagon.

With the ability to select disciplines and sparring techniques for your fighter, how they evolve is in your hands. These attributes are developed as you progress, based on the damage and aesthetic.

If you want to become a striker, master Muay Thai and throw combos. If it's grappling, evolve your wrestling skills by taking it to the mat.

Training with specific fighters, such as Khabib Nurmagomedov or Jorge Masvidal, allows you to learn their skills and build your own, but avoid knocking them out, unless you're looking for a rivalry to develop.

If you want to make it to the UFC, you've got to work your way up the ranks. Through an unscripted narrative, you can go down whichever route you desire to make it to the top; the amateur circuit, the World Fighting Alliance, or Dana White's Contender Series.

The game's advanced relationships system allows you to manoeuvre through the intricacies of a fighter's life, having to deal with friendships and rivalries, while engaging with fans; you can even use social media to call out opponents.

But be sure to take care with your fighter, as too many bouts can result in a serious injury, which could shorten your career.

Another new feature is the introduction of the interactive Coach Davis, your mentor, who acts as a guide and a feature of the fighter-coach dynamic. He's with you every step of the way as you look to become a champion.
