It’s hard not to feel sorry for Lionel Messi.Whenever a player contributes 25 goals and 21 assists in a single league season, he deserves some silverware. But Barcelona’s collapse meant that Real Madrid won the 2019/20 La Liga title.Messi certainly wasn’t to blame. He scored, assisted and created plenty more chances in a Barcelona side that faced issues the entire campaign. And Luis Suarez’s contribution has been called into question in a video that has emerged on Twitter.p1eekhno7o11sktb15lmcuh1o1gb.jpgIt shows the Uruguayan’s ‘disappointing misses’, and features more than six minutes worth of footage. Not all of the clips are from the 2019/20 season but they show a striker who, despite boasting an incredible goalscoring record at Camp Nou, has certainly been guilty of some wayward finishing in recent years.Just think of what Messi’s assist tally would be if Suarez had put more of these away. All strikers miss chances, even the world-class ones. And it’s quite incredible that Suarez has managed 196 goals in six seasons for Barcelona while missing a copious amount of guilt-edged opportunities.

But he’s 33 years old now and the Blaugrana need a No.9 that is more prolific in front of goal.

They’ve been heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, who has experience playing with Messi for Argentina.

Maybe Suarez isn't done at Barcelona just yet but if the Catalan club are to compete, they need new firepower.
