In one of the craziest events the UFC has ever seen, Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov truly went at it back and forth with the latter eventually emerging victorious.

UFC 229 was one of the most mental events the UFC have ever hosted with, of course, Khabib stealing the show.

All the build-up, trash talking and empty threats all led up to the main event, in which the Russian eventually came out victorious, submitting McGregor with a rear-naked choke.

As soon as McGregor tapped out, chaos ensued with most of Khabib’s corner hopping the fence of Octagon to celebrate with Khabib.

In an attempt to defend McGregor, the Irishman’s corner did the same thing, and within seconds a mass brawl erupted.

Despite the crazy aftermath from the fight, and all the trash talking beforehand, it was actually as soon as they entered the cage that Khabib claims to have known McGregor was ‘already broken’.

Khabib spoke with his brother moments before the fight, telling him how he knew he had his man where he wanted him.

The Eagle told his brother: "He never even looked me in the eyes, it was like he was looking me in the eyes, but he was never actually looking.

"I felt like he was looking somewhere here in the middle. Somewhere around the eyes, he never looked right into my eyes. Not once did he look me in the eyes.

Everything that happened, the press conference, weigh-ins, the open training, the closer we got to the fight the more he broke, and when we were inside the cage before the fight, I looked him in the eyes, I looked at his state and his appearance and I saw that he is already broken.

In fairness to the Russian, in all the time the ref was talking, McGregor was avoiding eye-contact, even looking at the big screen.

Fear in his eyes.

Even though the fight was two years ago, the two have certainly not forgiven each other, and there has even been talks of a rematch between the two creeping into the equation recently.

If Khabib wins his bout against Justin Gaethje on October 24, he will be 29-0 and he has openly said that he would be happy to finish his career 30-0.

Therefore, for the legend’s last fight, it would surely be fitting for a rematch with his biggest rival in McGregor.

Dana White would most likely jump at the idea given the numbers it would rake in, and McGregor is likely thirsty for his revenge.

What a superfight that would be to go out on.
