Arsenal have won the 2020 FA Cup final after beating Chelsea 2-1.Chelsea took the lead in the fifth minute thanks to a brilliant finish from Christian Pulisic.Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then levelled the scores midway through the first half from the penalty spot after being brought down inside the box by Cesar Azpilicueta.The Gabon international, who scored two goals against Manchester City in the semi-finals, then put Arsenal ahead with a wonderful goal in the 67th minute.Chelsea looked a little less dangerous after Pulisic went off with a hamstring injury early in the second half, and their task of getting themselves back into the match was made all the harder when Mateo Kovacic was sent off with just over 15 minutes remaining.Referee Anthony Taylor showed Kovacic a controversial second yellow card for a tackle on Granit Xhaka. Replays showed it was a harsh decision.No further goals were scored, so Arsenal sealed a record-breaking 14th FA Cup, further cementing their status as the competition’s most successful team.
It may have been a different story had Timo Werner been available to play.The German striker, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £48 million this summer, was at Wembley to watch his new teammates in action.And minutes after Aubameyang’s second goal, Werner was caught on camera taking his mobile phone from his pocket.This led to a brilliant tweet from RB Leipzig’s Twitter account…
