Serie A was a hot destination for Premier League players last summer.

Aaron Ramsey signed for Juventus after Arsenal let his contract expire, and Manchester United sent four players to Italy.

Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku both joined Inter Milan, Chris Smalling was loaned out to Roma and Matteo Darmian signed for Parma.

The season ended in silverware for Ramsey, who helped the Old Lady win a ninth-straight Serie A title.

And Lukaku also had a season to remember following his £74m move to the San Siro.

The Belgian striker scored 23 goals in Serie A, becoming the first player to hit that mark in his first season for Inter Milan since Ronaldo Nazario.

Back in November, the Daily Mail rated all five players out of 10 based on their first few months in Italy, and now we’ve decided to update those assessments.

All five players have been given an end-of-season score out of 10.

Aaron Ramsey - 4/10

November score - 3/10

Ramsey will cherish his Serie A winner’s medal but he didn’t have a major part to play in Juventus’ triumph, making just 11 starts.

There were some highlights, including an exceptional performance in an important 2-0 win against Inter Milan in March in which Ramsey scored and set up Paulo Dybala’s goal.

Injuries didn’t help the 29-year-old, whose performances were described as “insignificant” by former Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi in an interview with the Daily Mail last year.

Romelu Lukaku - 9/10

November score - 9/10

Lukaku finished third in the race to win the Serie A Golden Boot following a brilliant debut season.

His goals were crucial in helping Antonio Conte’s side mount a serious title challenge.

The Belgian looked like a different player from the one that struggled at Manchester United, and it was good to see him enjoying his football once again.

Alexis Sanchez - 6/10

November score - 0/10

Sanchez had a wild season on loan at Inter Milan.

He scored twice and was sent off on his full debut for the club.

Then, disaster struck when he suffered a serious injury on international duty that kept him out for three months.

It’s no surprise that he was rated 0 out of 10 in November, then.

However, Sanchez returned with a spring in his step and his performances after Serie A restarted in June were very impressive.

He was involved in 10 goals after the restart, scoring three times and proving seven assists.

According to Italian outfit Corriere Della Sera, Inter have reached an agreement with Man United to sign Sanchez permanently.

Chris Smalling - 7/10

November score - 7/10

Smalling’s performances at Roma were a pleasant surprise.

He flourished at the heart of the Giallorossi’s defence, reviving his career with a very solid season.

He played in 30 league games, scoring three times, and the fact that Roma were keen to make Smalling’s stay in Italy permanent shows he was a success.

But according to Sky Sport Italia - per the Daily Mail - they’ve given up on their attempts to sign Smalling permanently.

Matteo Darmian - 5/10

November score - 4/10

Darmian instantly became Parma’s starting right-back and he ended up playing in 33 league games for the club, who finished 11th in Serie A.

Man United won’t have any regrets about letting him go, though.
