Chelsea are still licking their wounds after losing the 2020 FA Cup final against Arsenal.

The Blues couldn't have made a better start under the Wembley arch on Saturday when Christian Pulisic fired them into an early lead, but everything went downhill from that opening goal onwards.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was able to level the scores from the penalty spot, before providing a second-half winner with a superb solo effort that ended with a chip over Willy Caballero.

FA Cup final controversy

Chelsea's chances of responding were greatly hampered by the fact they were reduced to 10 men, however, with Mateo Kovacic receiving his marching orders for collecting two yellow cards.

As a result, Frank Lampard's men could only limp to a defeat with Cesar Azpilicueta, Pedro and Pulisic all taken off injured before the squad watched their London rivals lift the silverware.

However, even though two days have passed, Chelsea fans are still unhappy with the result and that largely comes down to a series of decisions made by referee Anthony Taylor.

Chelsea fans livid with Taylor

Taylor became public enemy number one for awarding a penalty and red card as well as deciding against sending off Emiliano Martinez after he appeared to handle the ball outside of the area.

Chelsea fans had been critical of the decision to appoint Taylor in the first place with many pointing to his controversial decision to allow Alexis Sanchez's goal in the 2017 FA Cup final.

Ordinarily, referees only manage one FA Cup climax in their career, never mind when the opponents are identical, but the COVID-19 pandemic meant that Taylor was appointed for a second time.

Montage of Taylor's worst mistakes

Controversy all round then and let's just say football fans have reacted to Taylor's performance in a variety of manners with one now going as far as compiling a Twitter compilation.

User @CompsFooty has put together a two-minute montage of Taylor's most 'horrendous decisions and mistakes', which has proven particularly popular with Chelsea fans after the weekend's events.

Hard to swallow for Chelsea

It's pretty easy to see why Taylor has become a figure of hatred for Chelsea, not that the controversial incidents justify some of the abuse that has been aimed in his direction.

Blues fans clearly find it uncanny that the same referee made controversial decisions against them during FA Cup finals in which they faced the same opponents.

That's not to mention the fact he officiated their defeat to Manchester United in which Harry Maguire infamously dodged a red card and they had two goals chalked off by VAR.

But the video was also keen to highlight some of Taylor's errors that happened away from Chelsea ties, including the 'phantom penalty' at Swansea that some people blamed on a stag do.

Regardless of your opinions on the incidents, though, there can be no denying that Taylor won't be receiving a warm welcome when he next brings his whistle and boots to Stamford Bridge.
