Football fans have suddenly noticed that the United star looks remarkably similar to Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell.
After being flooded with messages, De Gea tweeted a photo of his doppelgänger alongside the flushed emoji.
His tweet has gone viral. At the time of writing, it has been retweeted more than 11,000 times and ‘liked’ by over 100,000 accounts.
Kettlewell’s side ran out 1-0 winners over Motherwell on Monday night and the Ross County boss, who is seven years older than De Gea, was asked about his resemblance to the Premier League goalkeeper after the match.
“It’s wasted on me with the whole social media thing,” Kettlewell told BBC Sport Scotland. “I think he’s maybe my doppelgänger.”
Asked by Sky Sports if he would take De Gea at Ross County, he added: “Absolutely, aye, absolutely!”
