Celtic's hopes of winning ten Scottish Premiership titles in a row got off to an ideal start last week.

Odsonne Edouard showed why he's highly sought-after, bagging a hat-trick as the Bhoys secured a romping 5-1 victory against Hamilton.

If a statement needed to be made to Rangers who had won 24 hours earlier, that was it.

Steven Gerrard and his men already look like they'll have their work cut out in 2020/21.

Neil Lennon's side doesn't look like letting up, and why should they? The Hoops are in pursuit of history and a place among the very best.

This Celtic side are free-flowing and they are unrelenting in their desire to score goals - it's rather frightening that some extra summer additions could be arriving.

Vasilis Barkas and Moi Elyounoussi have already joined, but there are now fresh targets being identified.

With Edouard continuously linked with a move away, a switch is being eyed for another centre-forward.

According to the Daily Record, that happens to be Steven Fletcher, a striker with vast experience of the Scottish game already.

Fletcher is out of contract at Sheffield Wednesday this summer and as a result, can join Celtic for absolutely nothing.

Talks have reportedly begun with the player's agent but Lennon is in no rush to conclude a deal given the long-term offers the attacker has from four other clubs.

The experienced 33-year-old rejected new terms with Wednesday earlier this year.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Fletcher, who is capped 33 times by Scotland, would be an interesting signing for the Hoops.

Approaching the twilight of his career, he would certainly be no replacement for the free-scoring Edouard.

He won Celtic's Player of the Season last year and aged just 22, has the rest of his playing days ahead of him.

Though, as far as back-up players are concerned, he'd give Lennon an entirely different option.

Described as a "top-class centre-forward" by former Hoops boss Martin O'Neill in 2013, he is a tormenting figure in the air, scoring 13 times last term and winning 5.6 aerial duels per game.

That is a colossal figure compared to Edouard who came out on top of just 1.7 aerial duels per match in 2019/20.

Steven Fletcher

Celtic's French striker may be a clinical poacher, but Fletcher is the very definition of instinctive, forging a whole career out of being in the right place at the right time.

After bagging against Wigan over seven years ago, journalist Richard Rae remarked that Fletcher had the "instinctive certainty that one associates with the likes of Robin van Persie or Luis Suárez."

Fine praise indeed for a player who isn't as nearly in the same calibre as those when it comes to winning honours.

Though, despite Fletcher's age, you never lose your instinctive knack of finding the back of the net. This would be a canny addition from Nick Hammond and Lennon.
