Rangers FC have aspirations of being the ultimate party poopers this season.

The Gers have endured a difficult period which has seen them fall firmly behind rivals Celtic in the Scottish pecking order.

Last season saw the Bhoys win their ninth-straight league title, leaving them on the cusp of history.

Winning the league this term would make in 10-in-a-row for Neil Lennon's side - the perfect way to cap off a decade of domination.

But as far as Rangers are concerned, this is the last thing that they want to see.

Steven Gerrard's side are clear underdogs in the title race but they'll be doing everything that they can to push their rivals all the way.

If they're to do that then they'll need to strengthen in the transfer market.

Several positions have been tipped as areas to improve, but none more than the striker position.

With speculation over Alfredo Morelos' future building by the day, Rangers had no choice but to bring in a proven goalscorer to fill the void.

But it seems that they may just have found their man.

Rangers have completed a deal to sign Kemar Roofe, the club has confirmed.

The ex-Anderlecht man was available this summer following a mixed campaign for the Belgian side.

Aged 27, the striker arrives for an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal after one year in Belgium.

In that time Roofe waslimited to just 16 appearances following ankle and calf injuries.

While a goal tally of seven is a decent return for the amount of football played with Anderlecht, the hope is that he'll be able to far exceed that tally under Gerrard this term.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is a very exciting signing for Rangers.

Last term was frustrating for Kemar Roofe, but the striker has a proven track record of scoring goals, and plenty of them.

Things haven't quite worked out with Anderlecht but perhaps a fresh start is exactly what's needed for the 27-year-old.

Roofe was a popular figure during his time with Leeds United and that time playing in front of an expectant fan-base will certainly serve him well at Ibrox.

With Alfredo Morelos likely to move on it's a huge boost to have a ready-made replacement already in place.
