Celtic issued a colossal statement on Sunday.

In pursuit of ten titles in a row, they swept aside Hamilton in dominant fashion by racking up five goals.

If they wanted to give an indication to Rangers over how they were going to approach the new campaign, there it was in all it's unrelenting glory.

The way the Hoops dismantled their opposition was almost frightening as Odsonne Edouard ran riot.

The Frenchman, who has been linked with an exit, scored an enthralling hat-trick

Based on that performance, it's no surprise that teams in the Premier League are casting their eyes towards Edouard.

The fear of him leaving has arguably never been stronger.

Neil Lennon has been active in the transfer market so far and has already welcomed Moi Elyounoussi and Vasilis Barkas through the door.

Though, one summer target has now opened up on a potential move to Glasgow.

David Marshall was linked with a switch before Barkas joined and he has now reacted to that, claiming that there was talk of a deal being done.

The goalkeeper has now been left in limbo with the Bhoys possessing two adequate stoppers in Barkas and Scott Bain.

Speaking to the press, he said

"I think it would interest any player. But to a Celtic fan growing up, and someone who played there as a youngster coming through, it would be a massive thing for me. I’ll just need to see how it all pans out.

"I haven’t heard anything from Celtic, but I’ll always have that affinity with them and it would be great if it happens.

“With Craig and big Fraser leaving Celtic, there was talk of me going there."

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Marshall's current club, Wigan, have found themselves in the unfortunate predicament of administration and were recently relegated to England's third tier after suffering a 12 point deduction.

As a result, a number of players could leave the Latics, including previous Hoops target Joe Gelhardt.

Marshall knows Parkhead well having appeared for the club between 2002 and 2007. He has since established himself well across the border, being dubbed as "outstanding" when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of Cardiff City.

At the age of 35, he boasts a level of experience that Lennon could do with but it's questionable as to whether they actually need him.

Bain was given a decent run of games throughout pre-season and was even given the gloves against Hamilton last weekend.

It's clear that the managerial team trust him and with Barkas yet to even play a game, it's unlikely Marshall would get a look in.

Unfortunately for the boyhood fan, he may have to look elsewhere for a move this summer.
