Leeds United have under six weeks to wait for the moment that they've been craving.

After 16 years away the Whites will be among the 20 teams competing in the Premier League this season.

However the hope will be that their return to the big time will not be short-lived.

The gulf in class between England's top two tiers is absolutely massive, and that means that Leeds have a big task on their hands.

Despite dominating the Championship last season, Marcelo Bielsa will need to add some experience and quality to his side if they're to consolidate their position in the league.

But while new players will be targeted, there's one familiar face who is very much at the top of the shopping list.

That man, of course, is Ben White.

Reports have heavily linked the Whites with a move for the 22-year-old Brighton man.

White was an ever-present under Bielsa last term as he made 49 appearances during a successful loan spell at Elland Road.

It was that time at the club which has convinced them to make a fresh move.

However a deal could now be tricky to agree.

Reports from Football Insider have claimed that White's Brighton teammate Lewis Dunk is attracting significant interest from Chelsea.

While that interest doesn't directly impact Leeds, it's claimed that a move for Dunk would make it impossible for the Seagulls to offload White, who is seen as the long-term successor to the Chelsea target.

Of course it remains to be seen whether either of these links turn into anything more substantial, but Victor Orta and the Leeds recruitment team will certainly be keeping a close eye on matters at the AMEX Stadium.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

The situation around Ben White looks like it could rumble on.

A player who is highly-rated by Brighton, the 22-year-old may well be seen as part of Graham Potter's plans for the upcoming season.

If the Seagulls don't want to lose White then they're not under any pressure to sell him - particularly with such an abundance of defensive talent already on the south coast.

However that doesn't mean that Leeds should give up.

Brighton may be happy with the players who saw them through last season, and that means that White could be seen as dispensable.

They know his value, and so any move that Leeds make will need to be in line with how highly he is rated.

But at the end of the day money talks and so if the Whites want to sign him that much then they'll have to pay up.
