Rangers FC are preparing for a big season.

After two years at Ibrox, this is the campaign where Steven Gerrard will have genuine aspirations of pushing for the title.

However that job won't be easy.

Celtic have dominated Scottish football for many years with the Gers having their problems both on and off the pitch.

That has led the Bhoys to successfully claim nine-straight league titles in the last nine years.

One more league victory will see Celtic secure a landmark '10-in-a-row' - the perfect way to cap off a decade of domination.

But you'd be foolish to think that Rangers won't have something to say about it.

If Gerrard's side are to compete for the title then they'll need be as strong as possible this term.

Plenty of players have been linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, but it's equally important for them to keep hold of their best players.

One man who is taking all of the headlines is Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian international has been heavily linked with a move away, leading Lille to formalise their interest in the star.

While the French side are said to be leading the chase, it seems that a club closer to home may now be considering a move.

According to Foot Mercato, as per the Daily Record, Brighton are now entering the race for the 24-year-old.

Sevilla and Italian side Sassuolo are also said to be keen on a move.

The writing seems to be on the wall for the divisive striker though, with Rangers confirming a deal for Kemar Roofe on Tuesday.

The former Leeds man is likely to be Morelos' replacement, and that means that a decision could be made sooner rather than later on his future.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

It's only a matter of time before Alfredo Morelos moves on.

While he's scored plenty of goals during his time at Ibrox, it seems that his days in Glasgow appear to be numbered.

Lille appear to be in the driving seat for his signature, but there's certainly no shortage of potential suitors.

Brighton would be an interesting move.

Whether he would fit in to Graham Potter's style of football is up for debate - as would the conversation of whether he'd be an automatic starter or not.

But Morelos certainly has plenty to offer, and wherever he goes next, he's bound to be a success if he can keep himself focused.
