Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been a pretty decent signing for Arsenal, hasn’t he?

Since the Gabon striker arrived in January 2018 for a club-record £56 million, he hasn’t stopped scoring.

In 109 appearances in all competitions, he’s notched 70 goals and is now the club captain.

You only need to look at his match-winning brace in last week’s FA Cup final against Chelsea to see his importance to the Gunners.

But with his contract expiring next summer, there are huge concerns that he could leave the club in the coming weeks and months.

After all, he has the ability to play for another club in the world.

When asked about his future after the FA Cup, Aubameyang refused to comment.

"I am really not thinking about this now I really just want to enjoy with the guys and take the trophy now," he told BT Sport.

"I think everyone gave their best for the team today, we deserved it. The journey has been long, great evening, I will enjoy all night for sure, I had this inspiration."

Losing him and his goals would be a massive blow for Mikel Arteta’s side.

However, it seems he might be staying after all.

On Thursday afternoon, the Telegraph claimed that Arsenal believe Aubamayng is ‘on the brink’ of signing a new three-year contract.

The deal would run until 2023 and be worth £250,000-per-week while also included significant bonuses.

The report adds Arsenal are drawing up the final contract proposal after positive talks where verbal promises were made.

If the club can get Aubamayng to put pen to paper, it will be a HUGE boost. With Willian looking set to join in the coming days, Arsenal fans must be feeling pretty positive ahead of next season.
