In fact, he didn't score a single goal last season and hasn't beaten the goalkeeper since April 2019.
That's a record of 16 months without a senior goal to his name, last scoring in a 4-0 win for Preston North End against Ipswich.
It's been a troubling time for Nmecha who just needs a vote of confidence in order to flourish.
Of course, Celtic have had some good relations with his parent club Man City, landing Patrick Roberts on loan and signing both Oliver Ntcham and Jeremie Frimpong from Guardiola's team in previous years.
Nmecha has had a year and half to forget, starting just six times across all competitions in 2019/20, so it would surely be nothing short of a risk for Celtic to loan the forward.
They are surely better off looking elsewhere.
