Leeds United are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of an assault on the Premier League.

The Whites won the Championship by 10 points from second-placed West Bromwich Albion to seal a return to the top-flight.

It is the first time in 16 years that Leeds will be playing in the top-flight, and they are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of taking on the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United.

Not all signings can be superstars, though, as the Whites try to invest in their squad.

There have been links with the likes of Edinson Cavani and also a permanent deal for defender Ben White.

But it appears that they have one eye on the future too.

Football Insider reports that there is interest in Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci, and he has rejected a new contract at Anfield.

The 19-year-old left-back has made two senior appearances for the Reds and has been a fixture for the youth teams, making 59 appearances for the U18s, the U19s, and the U23s.

Liverpool had hoped to keep him on Merseyside but he is said to have snubbed that offer and is now in talks over a move to another club.

Leeds face competition from Brentford and Norwich City in their bid, but the Whites are the only club that can offer him Premier League football.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This would be an interesting move from Larouci.

He faces a major uphill battle to force his way into the Reds squad because of Andrew Robertson’s genuinely world-class displays in the role.

A move away, and the chance to become a first-team star at Elland Road, has to be intriguing for the teenager.

He is valued at just £1.62 million by Transfermarkt, given that his contract expires at the end of the season, and he could be a bargain acquisition for the Whites.

This would be a shrewd acquisition.
