Jurgen Klopp is currently faced with the difficult task of improving his brilliant Liverpool starting line-up.The Reds dominated the Premier League this season, wrapping up their first league title since 1990 by finishing the campaign on a remarkable 99 points. But history teaches us that successful teams can’t afford to sit still. They must strengthen while they’re on top or they risk allowing their rivals to close the gap.Liverpool’s main transfer target ahead of the 2020-21 season appears to be Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The Merseyside outfit have been strongly linked with a move for the 29-year-old in recent weeks and the club’s fans would love to see him arrive.A report from German publication Kicker - via the Daily Mail - earlier this weekend claimed Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group have told Klopp he must raise funds for Thiago by selling players. This is despite the fact Thiago will cost just £27 million this summer due to the fact he has no plans, at present, to extend his contract beyond 2021.p1ef862t9g14f11gp11vp13fs16p3v.jpgLiverpool fans, sensing Thiago’s potential move to Anfield remains a real possibility, tuned in to Saturday night’s Champions League clash between Bayern and Chelsea in order to watch the gifted Spanish midfielder in action. They were extremely impressed with what they saw.Thiago played 70 minutes against Frank Lampard’s side and caught the eye with his range of passing, silky touches and willingness to get stuck into tackles.

The midfielder protected his back-four by getting back and sliding in on several occasions.

Liverpool fans are now even more desperate to see Thiago in a red shirt and have taken to social media to beg that the deal goes through...

They've also pleaded with Thiago directly after he posted the following post-match tweet...

“He would be a great signing, he is a conductor,” Rio Ferdinand said on BT Sport about the possibility of Thiago joining Liverpool.

“He is somebody who controls the tempo of the game. He has got wing mirrors, he can see behind him, he can see all angles and every pass in the game.

“He is an intelligent player and speaks the language which is an important part of it.

“He would be a dream for Liverpool, he is the type of player they haven't got.”

Owen Hargreaves added: “He is on his day one of the top five midfielders in the world.

“His quality when we were at Stamford Bridge - I was blown away by that performance. He has everything and as good as Liverpool are, I think he walks into their starting XI.

“Everyone needs him. Man United could take him, Arsenal too. He is one of those players that if you played with him you'd be blown away by how gifted he is.”

Liverpool face Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 28 - and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the talented Thiago is part of Klopp’s squad by then.
