Silly season is well and truly underway at Elland Road.

Following Leeds United's promotion to the Premier League, the club have been linked with every man and his dog, with each link varying from the sublime to the ridiculous.

With players such as Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic among those being 'targeted', you begin to see how the transfer window can get a little bit out of hand.

That said, there's some serious business still to be done in west Yorkshire.

While Marcelo Bielsa is likely to keep the faith with much of the squad who secured promotion last term, there's no doubt that a handful of additions will still be needed.

The Athletic have claimed that the Whites are targeting four or five players with experience in the Premier League or Championship.

But with plenty of players already linked, it remains to be seen who the club will see as their prime targets.

However if the latest reports are to be believed, then the club appear to be aiming high.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Rob Holding is one of the players on Leeds' list.

The Whites are certainly in the market for a new centre back this summer, with Ben White being a top priority.

However with Leeds reportedly having two bids rejected for the Brighton man, it seems that could be lining up alternatives.

While a permanent deal for the Arsenal man is unlikely to materialise, a loan switch could be an ideal arrangement for all parties.

It's claimed that the Gunners would be open to offers for the former Bolton Wanderers man, which means that they're unlikely to stand in his way if Leeds were to move for him.

But speaking in January, Mikel Arteta did insist that the player was part of his long-term plans.

He said: "He is a very interesting player, very focused, very determined and very willing to learn.

“Obviously the fact he has been out for such a long time, he is lacking competition now and lacking that rhythm.

“We need to try to give him as much as possible to help him. There were some moments that he looked really, really good.

“He is a player that is going to be very valuable for us.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Rob Holding would be a great signing for Leeds United.

While I understand why Ben White is the top target at centre-back, a move for the Arsenal man could be very shrewd in bolstering their defensive line.

With Premier League experience, the former Bolton man would no doubt hit the ground running at Elland Road, and after plying his trade with the Gunners he will almost certainly fit into Marcelo Bielsa's philosophy of playing out from the back,

A loan switch means that a move would be low risk, and to be honest I'd be tempted to bring both players in as both Holding and White can also provide cover in defensive midfield.

This is certainly one to watch, in my opinion.
