Leeds United are taking no risks this summer.

After spending 16 years outside of the top flight the Whites finally returned to the Premier League after an emphatic season.

Marcelo Bielsa's side won the Championship by 10 points as their high-intensity style took the league by storm, making them look head and shoulders above their competition.

However this term could be completely different.

In the top tier the Yorkshire side will be among the main contenders to face relegation - something that is unthinkable given their lengthy struggle to get back to the top flight.

Leeds can't afford to take this season lightly, and based on reports it seems that they're not going to.

While Marcelo Bielsa will be keen to stand by the players who got promoted, there's bound to be several additions brought in to help the club retain their Premier League status.

Numerous positions have been tipped as areas of priority, but none more that in the offensive positions.

Patrick Bamford is expected to lead the line for Leeds this season but he'll need support to keep him on his toes as the season unfolds.

Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma have been linked, but it seems that Victor Orta may also be looking at more cost effective solutions.

Reports from the Daily Mail have claimed that Leeds United are targeting playmaker Nicolae Stanciu.

The 27-year-old, who played for Slavia Prague in this season's Champions League, is one of a number of strikers being monitored by Orta and his recruitment team as they look for ways to bolster their attacking line.

A target for Chelsea in 2016, Stanciu has had a mixed few years but looked back to his usual creative self last term as he scored four and created 12 for the Czech side.

But with the player looking to fulfil his potential as he enters his prime years, the midfielder will be hoping that a move to Leeds could see him show what he's about.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

While Nicolae Stanciu enjoyed a decent season last year, I don't think he's done enough to warrant a move to Elland Road.

The Romanian's record over recent seasons is mixed at best, and that means that a move to Leeds would be a huge gamble.

While he would only cost £7million, the Whites would be much better served by paying slightly more for a player with experience of the English leagues and a more consistent track record.

Perhaps if Leeds are desperate then they might make a move, if not, I just can't see this one happening.

It seems that Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins are a priority this summer, and I think that it's players like that that Leeds will need if they're to survive this summer.
