There's only one objective that matters for Celtic this term.

After securing a ninth-straight league title last season the sights of everyone at Parkhead is firmly on a record-breaking achievement.

Another title this term would make it 10-in-a-row for the Bhoys, the perfect way to cap a full decade of domination in the Scottish game.

But that doesn't mean that things will be easy.

Rangers FC have title aspirations of their own, with Steven Gerrard determined that his side can stop their rivals from securing a spot in the record books.

Celtic's 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock on Sunday even handed Rangers an early lead in the title race, although the campaign is still in its infancy.

But if Neil Lennon's side want to make history then there's no time for resting on their laurels.

The Bhoys struggled to break down the Kilmarnock defence at Rugby Park - something that only emphasised the need for greater attacking reinforcements.

Ivan Toney is a player who's been linked for a couple of months now, but it seems that a move could be gathering pace.

Described by Peterborough United's Darren Ferguson as 'the best striker he's ever managed', the 24-year-old looks set to leave the Posh after a stunning campaign which saw him score 26 goals.

That has alerted a number of clubs to his services, most notably Celtic and Championship play-off finalists Brentford.

But while a move to a club chasing a spot in the Premier League would be tempting, Kevin Phillips has urged the former Newcastle man to move to Glasgow in order to challenge himself among the worlds' best.

Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said: "I have always been an advocate of trying to stay in the Championship or Premier League.

“But if it was a choice between Brentford and Celtic and you have a chance to play in the Champions League and a chance to be part of a squad that could make history – I would opt to go to Celtic.

“To play in front of those supporters, we have all heard it and seen it, it would be awesome. To have this chance at this stage in his career, to play in the Champions League, wow.

"Not many player get the opportunity to do that so I would have to opt for Celtic.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

There's not many players who fit the description of 'a proven goalscorer' more than Ivan Toney.

His time at Peterborough United has been nothing short of stunning and he's fully deserving of the transfer speculation that has followed.

A move to the Championship would be good, but the opportunity to play in the Champions League doesn't come along every day.

Toney will score goals at any level, and if he was to move to Parkhead then I'm adamant that he has what it takes to score 20+ goals in a campaign.

Providing Celtic can fund a deal, this is one that would be a great deal for all parties and one which I'm sure plenty of fans would like to see.
