Rangers FC have been in fine form to begin the Scottish Premiership season.
Steven Gerrard’s side are attempting to stop Celtic from winning their 10th successive title north of the border.
Rangers beat Aberdeen on the opening day of the season, winning 1-0, and were victorious on Sunday too against St Mirren.
Alfredo Morelos scored twice in a 3-0 win, but there remains uncertainty over his future at the club.
He has been heavily linked with a move to French club Lille, who have made a series of bids for the forward.
The Daily Mail reports that they have made a number of offers, culminating in a bid worth £16.25 million.
Rangers are keen to receive £20m for the striker and they have already taken steps to replace him, signing both Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.
And Football Insider now quotes Kevin Phillips, who claims that Morelos is almost certain to leave the club in the coming weeks.
He said: “I would say it is only a matter of time.
“I would imagine there is a lot going on in the background. You do not make two signings like that unless something is happening.
“I would not be surprised if he moves on in the next week or so. Whether that be to a Premier League or abroad I do not know.
“I would not say that his days are numbered but I do not imagine he will be a Rangers player at the end of this transfer window.”
GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…
Yeah, this feels about right.
Rangers do not seem to be digging their heels in to keep him and may have already started spending the money they expect to receive, especially when it comes to the signings of Roofe and Itten.
This very much feels like Rangers are simply waiting for the right bid to arrive.
Morelos, though, is a star and has been exceptional for the club since his move from HJK.
He has scored 77 goals in 139 games for Rangers, at a rate of a goal every 0.55 games, and has also registered 30 assists. That’s 107 goal contributions.
He will be missed if he does go, but as Phillips says, that is quite simply a matter of time.News Now - Sport News
