Leeds United will certainly be enjoying this summer.

After 16 years outside of the top flight they have finally secured their spot among English football's 'big guns'.

It's been a long road and fans would be forgiven for believing that they might never get back to the top tier, but lo and behold they've managed it.

Marcelo Bielsa's impact at the club has been crucial to the club's recent success, with their high-energy style of play putting them head and shoulders above their EFL competition.

But next season will be a completely different challenge.

The Premier League is the richest league in the world, meaning that every single week the Whites will come up against 11 players who are at the top of their profession.

With the players that Leeds have they should be able to compete, but that doesn't mean that they won't be looking to strengthen this summer.

The club are said to be prioritising domestic signings, but with greater value for money tipped around the continent, few could blame Victor Orta and his scouting team for shopping around.

According to reports from German publication Express, the Whites may have found their man.

Jhon Cordoba may not be a familiar name in the UK, but he certainly boasts a glowing reputation in the Bundesliga.

The Cologne striker enjoyed an impressive campaign last year after scoring 14 goals in 31 appearances.

Valued at £10.8million by Transfermarkt, the Colombian is said to be attracting plenty of interest with both Leeds and Everton said to be keen.

After arriving from German rivals Mainz in 2017, Cordoba is entering his prime and could be an ideal addition for the Premier League newcomers as they look to hit the ground running this term.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Jhon Cordoba may not be the dream summer signing that Leeds United fans are hoping for, but he'd certainly be a handful.

Renowned for his hold-up player and aerial prowess, the Colombian certainly appears to be cut out for life in the rough and tumble of the Premier League.

Likened to Didier Drogba, it's unclear how much Cologne would demand for the player, there's a hope that he could be a cheaper alternative that some of the players being linked from the Premier League and Championship.

One stumbling block could be the interest from Everton.

The Toffees would offer certain assurances of survival that the newly-promoted side can't - something which could be key for a player arriving from Germany.

But with Marcelo Bielsa as their boss, it would be incredibly hard for any player to turn down the chance to move to Elland Road for their first season back in the top flight for 16 years.
