Celtic closing in on deal for Premier League ace

Celtic are on the cusp of history.

Nine Scottish Premiership titles is a massive achievement, but success this term would secure them a spot in the record books.

To secure ’10-in-a-row’ would be a big moment and the Bhoys would surely love nothing more than to cap off a decade of domination.

Rivals Rangers FC will undoubtedly have something to say about it, but as far as Neil Lennon’s side are concerned a 10th title is very much in their own hands.

But that doesn’t mean that securing the title will be a walk in the park.

A 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock at the weekend saw Celtic drop two points behind their rivals in the title race, and that simply shows the need to be on their game week in, week out.

If they’re to last the pace then Lennon will be hoping to strengthen his squad, but according to reports it seems that a new addition could be on the horizon.

Sky Sports are reporting that Albian Ajeti is closing in on a move.

The West Ham man is way down the pecking order at the London Stadium and looks set to leave the club in search of first team football.

It’s claimed that the 23-year-old is in Glasgow and could put the finishing touches to his loan move in the coming days.

GIVEMESPORT’S Phil Spencer says…

This will be a great deal to get over the line.

Albian Ajeti will be a very shrewd addition to help support Celtic’s attack to compete on all fronts over the course of the season.

While the West Ham man will be hopeful of being a success, he won’t take on the full weight of goalscoring responsibility.

Odsonne Edouard is still very much the club’s talisman in attack, but it remains to be seen what his plans will be.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move away this summer, with the likes of Leicester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Brighton all said to be keen.

Whether he will move on remains to be seen, but if he does then Celtic will no doubt need a replacement.

Albian Ajeti was always going to join the club, and so if Edouard was to move on then it would mean the Bhoys would be likely to target another new face to help the West Ham man in attack.
