Everton's transfer window hasn't really taken shape.

For all the hype over Carlo Ancelotti, he is yet to lay down a marker in the market.

He is a wonderful head coach, managing the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich, and alongside Marcel Brands, they could unleash some impressive firepower.

Players like Thomas Lemar and Leon Bailey have both been linked with moves to Merseyside, transfers that could really catch the eye and take Everton to the next level.

After all, if they want to achieve Ancelotti's dream of qualifying for Europe, those are the types of players they should be looking to bring to the Premier League.

They wouldn't come cheap, but when have Everton been reluctant to spend large sums? You only need to look at Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison to understand that.

However, they could also look for cheaper acquisitions, especially in a window that'll be hindered by COVID-19.

Sigurdsson

One of the newest individuals on Everton's radar is a former Premier League player - unfortunately, he wasn't very good when on English shores.

According to Sky Sports, the Toffees are one of four clubs to have watched Lyon winger Bertrand Traore.

Everton are clearly interested in the attacker who departed England for £9m in 2017.

Newcastle United, Leicester and Crystal Palace also have their eyes on signing the 24-year-old, who has been capped 52 times by his country.

It's thought that Lyon are prepared to sell the forward - Transfermarkt rate him at just £8.55m.

Bertrand Traore

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

To go from Lemar and Bailey to being linked with Traore is a kick in the face for Everton supporters.

Lemar and Bailey are prestigious talents - one being the subject of a £92m bid from Arsenal and the other subject of £80m interest from Chelsea in years gone by.

Although Traore was thought of as an "exceptional" talent when he was a teenager, the fact of the matter is that now, he's rather average.

The Burkina Faso international found the net just four times last season and is unlikely to improve an Everton flank that is in desperate need of more firepower.

Traore

Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott netted three goals between them in 2019/20, while Bernard found the net on just three occasions himself.

For context, only one of Traore's strikes this term came in Ligue 1.

Added to that is his poor record in English football. He appeared just ten times for Chelsea before being shipped on.

The only exceptional quality about Traore is his dribbling. Capable of beating a player with mesmeric pace and ball skills, he has completed 2.2 successful dribbles per match in the 2019/20 Champions League.

Handy stuff.
