We are living in unprecedented times.

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the sporting schedule throughout the year.

The Scottish Premiership has been particularly affected, with the 2019/20 season curtailed as a result of the public health crisis.

The 2020/21 season is already underway, at the same time as their transfer window.

And there has been another COVID-related snafu north of the border.

Celtic’s next game, along with Aberdeen’s, has been suspended, after high-profile breaches of the quarantine procedures, per Sky Sports.

Boli Bolingoli, a left-back for the club, jetted to Spain and opted against quarantining upon his return, and then played in the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at the weekend.

Sky reports that Celtic were unaware of the trip he took, and the suspension comes after Aberdeen’s next fixture was cancelled because two of their players tested positive for COVID.

The Bhoys were set to play St Mirren this week, while Aberdeen were going to play Hamilton.

Neither games will take place, while this weekend’s meeting of Celtic and Aberdeen has naturally also been cancelled.

Celtic issued a detailed statement condemning Bolingoli’s actions, and there will now be questions surrounding his future at the club.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Bolingoli should be sacked.

It really is that simple.

He made a truly horrific error of judgement, did not inform his club of his plans, and has thrown the league into absolute disarray as a result.

Celtic have condemned the star, who has made a total of 29 appearances for the club, but that really doesn’t go far enough.

Everybody has made sacrifices as a result of COVID, fans, players, and managers alike, and Bolingoli’s assumption that he could get away with breaking the rules is insulting.

To reiterate: Celtic should tear up his contract.
