West Ham's transfer activity will be interesting to monitor this summer.
In 2019, they went big and it didn't really pay off.
The club spent a record fee on Sebastien Haller while also luring Pablo Fornals to the London Stadium.
On top of that, Mario Husillos added individuals like Roberto and Albian Ajeti to the capital - two players who flopped considerably.
Ajeti failed to score and Roberto made a number of high profile mistakes.
Consequently, Husillos lost his job alongside Manuel Pellegrini.
Whether David Moyes is backed by Gold and Sullivan remains to be seen but the vibes at the moment don't look too promising. That's because the Hammers are predominantly being linked for loan players in the last couple of days.
The Sunday Mirror reported at the weekend that they were eyeing a temporary move for Barcelona B captain Monchu. At 20 years of age, he's an extremely promising talent.
He isn't the first La Liga starlet to have caught the attention of West Ham's recruiters though.
The Mirror (26/07) stated last month that they could move for Real Madrid youngster Brahim Diaz.
The midfielder only left Manchester City in January 2019 but could be offered an escape route by the Hammers who are keen to sign him on loan.
Their chances of doing so may have just taken a boost as well. Spanish publication AS reported that Diaz could be one of the players at the top of Zinedine Zidane's list to leave The Bernabeu behind.

Diaz is a superbly gifted player and can play on either flank or through the middle in attacking midfield.
Having played ten times for Madrid in 2019/20, he is a player growing in experience all the time and has already profited from a move that saw him leave Pep Guardiola's Man City behind.
Diaz felt his chances would be limited and eventually got his dream move to La Liga. The Spaniard was also one of a crop of players described as "mind-blowing" by Jason Wilcox, City's Head of Academy.
That being said, do West Ham really need to sign the diminutive 21-year-old?
They are well stacked in a central area, particularly just behind the striker, while they have a plethora of wingers to pick from.
Andriy Yarmolenko and Jarrod Bowen offer good competition on the right-hand side while Robert Snodgrass, Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini can also play in that third of the pitch.
It's clear to see why the Hammers are after a player of Diaz's calibre, but would he really play enough to warrant loaning him? Arguably not.
