Newcastle United look likely to have a busy month ahead.
The Premier League season gets underway on September 12 and that means that time is ticking ahead of the big kick off.
The Magpies secured a 13th place finish in the league last term and will certainly have aspirations of pulling away from the bottom half in an attempt to push for the European positions this term.
If they're to do that there's no doubt that they'll need some significant investment.
Transfer funds appeared to be coming in the bucketload earlier this year with Amanda Staveley fronting a Saudi-backed consortium who had proposed a £300million takeover.
But after withdrawing their interest earlier this month it seems that the Magpies will have to resort to wheeling and dealing in order to strengthen.
Funds will be limited at St James' Park and that means that free transfers and loans could be key in the club's recruitment efforts.
But based on the latest reports, it seems that this won't hamper their ambition.
The Sun have claimed that Ryan Sessegnon is a target for Newcastle United.
The Tottenham Hotspur starlet endured a mixed campaign in North London after joining the club for a fee of £25million last summer.
Sessegnon was limited to just 12 first team appearances in that time as injuries and a lack of opportunities under Jose Mourinho took its toll.
The 20-year-old is regarded as a future star and that means that he could be available on loan as a way to get first team experience in the Premier League.
Despite his tender years, Sessegnon does have a wealth of first team experience after making 120 appearances for former club Fulham - including a full campaign as a first team regular during their campaign in the Premier League in 2018-19.
GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...
This would be a wonderful signing for Newcastle United.
Described by former boss Slavisa Jokanovic as 'quality', Ryan Sessegnon is one of the hottest prospects in English football and that means that he could be a huge asset.
While things haven't gone well at Tottenham Hotspur, the 20-year-old would certainly offer plenty to Steve Bruce's side.
As well as playing at left back, the former Fulham man enjoyed great success playing as a left winger under Jokanovic and Scott Parker where he scored 25 goals for the Cottagers.
There's no doubt that he would boost the Magpies and for me, this would be a switch that could be hugely beneficial for all parties involved.
