Just like that, Celtic's dreams are in trouble.

Neil Lennon's side came into the current season with ambitions of achieving a Scottish record. Ten successive titles were in sight for a team who have dominated the SPFL over the last decade.

However, after a moment of madness from Boli Bolingoli, they have now had two games postponed.

The Hoops hadn't started the season off brilliantly, drawing with Kilmarnock last weekend, but what's crucial now, is ensuring the coaching and playing staff at Parkhead and Rugby Park are in good health.

The left-back has been a foolish man, and that's putting things lightly. After travelling to Spain, Bolingoli refused to quarantine upon his return.

Unbeknown to Lennon and his teammates that he had visited the Mediterranean, he then trained towards the end of last week and even played during their 1-1 draw with Killie.

It's baffling that a situation like this can ever occur.

Bolingoli versus Lazio

Lennon has deemed the player "selfish" for his actions, while the 25-year-old has left his teammates equally frustrated.

Travelling overseas during the middle of a gameweek is one thing, but when it's during COVID, the actions are surely unforgivable.

Unsurprisingly, boisterous personality Chris Sutton has also had his say on the incident.

The footballer turned pundit was speaking on the Record Celtic podcast, where he unleashed a scathing verdict on Bolingoli.

Sutton declared:

"The club should get rid of him. It's one of the most stupid things I've ever heard.

"Fine him, out him, do whatever it takes. He should not have a future at Celtic."

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Sutton is often outspoken and isn't shy of creating controversy. However, on this occasion, he has hit the nail on the head.

If Bolingoli has a future in Glasgow it would be remarkable.

With the player featuring just 16 times in the SPFL last term, it wouldn't have been a surprise to see him walk out the door anyway, but the Hoops now have a perfect excuse to get rid of him.

Lennon has admitted that it'll be very difficult to bring the full-back into the fold again and that's completely understandable. He hasn't just upset the manager, but his teammates and friends as well.

Bolingoli against Rangers

Peter Lawwell and the head coach now reportedly want to loan him out, but you'd be crazy to chance your arm on such a rebellious player.

If no one comes in for him, then his contract should be torn up and thrown in the bin.

Bolingoli has no future whatsoever at Celtic.
