The release of FIFA 21 is less than two months away and fans are starting to get excited for this year's edition of the game.

Changes to gameplay, pro clubs and Ultimate Team (FUT) have already been announced, while news on Career Mode, VOLTA Football and next-gen gaming will drop soon.

EA have revealed major improvements to FUT, making it more exciting than ever before, with new levels of customisation and progression this year.

New ICON cards have also been added to the game, so players better start saving up their coins from day one if they want the likes of Eric Cantona or Samuel Eto'o in their teams.

Saving coins will be a little bit easier in FIFA 21 too because EA Sports have announced they are scrapping the widely unpopular fitness and training cards.

"In an effort to streamline the systems in the game we’ve decided, for different reasons, to remove both Fitness and Training items in FUT 21," EA's Pitch Notes read.

Fitness cards have been scrapped

"Fitness items have been a light management element in Ultimate Team since the very beginning.

"The decay of players' fitness was put in the game originally to encourage rotation in the squad and to simulate some of the management decisions that football squads have to consider.

"However, we've evaluated these mechanics and have decided that it wasn't creating the desired effect in rotation and players were spending time doing a management action that was frequently required and, ultimately, not very fun.

Fitness is a big issue in FIFA

"So this year, while Fitness and Player Stamina will still be important factors inside of a match, dictating, for example, how much you can sprint and for how long, you will no longer have to manage that mechanic in the menus as well.

"All players in FUT 21 will start every game at full Fitness."

EA also explained that training items are being removed because they were not being used by many players and have been taking up too much space in packs.

Training cards have been in from the start

"Training items were also a legacy staple in the game, allowing the application of stat boosts to players for a single game," the Pitch Notes continue.

"This mechanic was not something that was being used in-game by the vast majority of players so we’ve decided, rather than to continue with this feature and give people items in packs that they’re not using, to remove it and simplify this space in-game.

"As a result of these two changes, we’re also removing Fitness, Training and Healing related Staff Items from the game."

Fitness and training cards are out

Finally! EA are right, fitness and training cards were not very fun. While the developer often gets a lot of slack for failing to listen to players, this decision will go down very well.
