Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has installed a new sense of excitement at Manchester United.

He took over from Jose Mourinho in December 2018 when the club were near rock bottom and they needed a legend to bring them back from the brink.

That's exactly what Solskjaer has done and after his first full season in charge at Old Trafford, he's guided the Red Devils back into the Champions League. 

But he's not just putting them back amongst Europe's elite. 

A big part of the culture at Man United is bringing through young players from the academy and so far, Solskjaer is doing just that. 

In fact, he's given no less than 11 youngsters their first-team debuts since arriving 20 months ago. 

So, how have those kids progressed since? Let's take a look. 

Tahith Chong 

Chong was the first youngster to debut under Ole. He featured in an FA Cup tie against Reading in January 2019. 

Since then though, he's been used sparingly, making just 16 appearances in all competitions despite being highly regarded.

If reports are to be believed, Chong could be on his way out of Man United, despite signing a new contract until 2022. 

James Garner

One month after Chong made his first start, Garner debuted against Crystal Palace. 

Despite being hailed as the next Michael Carrick, the 19-year-old has only made three senior starts (all in the Europa League) and is continuing to develop with the U23s. 

Mason Greenwood

There's not much we need to tell you about Greenwood. The only thing that might shock you is that he made his debut in March 2020 in the dying moments of the famous win at PSG.

It seems like the striker has been around much longer, considering he scored 10 goals in 31 Premier League appearances last season - aged just 18. 

Greenwood is by far the most exciting player to come from United's academy in many years.

Brandon Williams

Williams made his senior debut at the start of the 2019/20 season, featuring in an EFL Cup tie against Rochdale in September. 

Since then, he's broken into Solskjaer's side and become a key player, making 35 appearances in all competitions at just 19.

He's already proved he's got the makings of a great s***house too. 

Di’Shon Bernard

Perhaps one of the most forgettable debutants under Solskjaer and it came on a night that FIVE other youngsters played their first games.

Bernard started in the Europa League fixture against Astana in November 2019, where he scored an own-goal in a shock 2-1 defeat.

He hasn't featured for the first team since. 

Ethan Laird

Laird was also playing the night that Bernard scored an own-goal, but the right-back has fared a little better since. 

He made another appearance against AZ Alkmaar in December, before being promoted to first-team training in July 2020.

Laird is now part of Man United's squad for the Europa League knockout stages.

Dylan Levitt

Levitt was another starter against Astana and he came out of the game looking very impressive. 

He controlled the midfield, completing 100 of his 104 passes, but hasn't featured for the first team since. 

Despite that, Levitt has been a regular name in the Wales squad under Ryan Giggs. It seems that two United legends rate him. 

D’Mani Mellor

Starting to sense a theme here? Mellor also debuted against Astana, coming on as a substitute on the hour mark.

The forward hasn't featured since - but with Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford ahead of him - that's hardly surprising. 

Largie Ramazani

A six-minute cameo against Astana was Ramazani's first and only senior appearance for Man United. 

He's since refused to sign a new contract with the club and will likely join Spanish side, UD Almeria, on a free transfer. Will he prove to be one that got away? 

Ethan Galbraith

Considering all the debuts that Solskjaer handed out against Astana, Galbraith may feel he was hard done by to only come on in the 89th minute. 

Obviously, that's not enough time to showcase what he can do. The midfielder has since returned to train with the U23s and looks set for a loan move away. 

Teden Mengi

Finally, a player that didn't make his debut against Astana! Instead, Mengi got his bow coming off the bench against LASK just last week, in the Europa League round of 16.

He's obviously part of the squad that has travelled to Germany to finish the tournament, but with Man United now in the semi-finals, it's unlikely he'll make another appearance this season.

So there we have it, those are the 11 players Solskjaer has given debuts to at Man United.

The likes of Greenwood and Williams have been very successful, while Mellor, Mengi and Garner are yet to really make their mark.
