Rangers FC eye move for impressive attacker

Steven Gerrard

So far so good for Rangers FC. Steven Gerrard's men have started the new season in fantastic form and already have two wins from two.

They are sitting second in the table and the Ibrox side already holds an advantage over Celtic.

it may only be two points, but it's a solid start for a team who are looking to end the Hoops' dominance.

Rangers fans won't need reminding how long it's been without a title to celebrate but they have made positive steps this summer.

Lille's interest in Alfredo Morelos has cooled after they signed Gent's Jonathan David, while the arrivals of two new strikers should boost their chances of winning the SPFL significantly.

Former Leeds forward Kemar Roofe arrived last week and then shortly after, Cedric Itten walked through the doors from St Gallen.

Both players certainly know where the back of the net, and if they can keep Morelos, they'll have an attacking trio capable of dethroning Celtic.

Remarkably, Rangers could sign another forward in the window.

The Light Blues have been interested in signing Danish winger Andreas Skov Olsen this summer with initial reports originating at the end of June.

However, since then, we've heard very little about a possible move.

That was until now. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Rangers made an offer to loan the Bologna player for the season.

Despite scoring just one goal last term, the report claims that Gerrard's side had taken notice of the 20-year-old prodigy.

Unfortunately, it'll take much more than a loan offer for Ross Wilson to secure his services.

Bologna's Director of Football said: "If one of Baldursson, Skov Olsen or Svanberg are to leave, it won’t happen on loan, and above all with an offer you can’t refuse."

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

This is an unfortunate situation for the Gers but when you consider everything, it's probably just as well.

Skov Olsen is a tremendous talent and judging by his age, he has enormous potential.

A solitary goal in 2019/20 tells a sorry tale for a player who was electrifying when at FC Nordsjaelland.

The season prior, he found the back of the net on 26 occasions, quite the tally for someone who doesn't predominantly play in a centre forward's role.

It's on the right where he became a force to be reckoned with, comparing himself to the great Arjen Robben for the way he cuts inside and beats the 'keeper.

He may have talent, but finding space for him now would be difficult. Both Itten and Roofe will be expecting to play in forward areas, which could prove difficult if Morelos sticks around.

Roofe can also play in wider roles but they were fairly well stocked in those areas, possessing the likes of Ryan Kent, Ianis Hagi and Joe Aribo who has also featured further wide.

That's without considering James Tavernier and Borna Barisic who offer much of the width on the flanks.

Rangers should ignore Bologna's wishes of submitting an offer they cannot refuse.
