Neymar has now played a part in two iconic Champions League comebacks following Paris Saint-Germain’s stunning win over Atalanta. The Brazilian, who was the hero as Barcelona knocked PSG out in 2017, was at his very best as the French champions secured their place in the semi-finals.He missed two big chances to score in the first half and the critics were out with their pitchforks. But nobody offered more of a threat and for his sheer efforts alone, Neymar deserves this.Per Opta, the 28-year-old completed 16 successful dribbles in the match, which is the highest in a Champions League game since April 2008.

That’s ridiculous.

Neymar moved to PSG for this reason. To be the main star, out of Lionel Messi’s shadow.

And he deserves all the plaudits coming his way after a fine individual performance.

But things didn’t get off to a great start. Neymar produced a terrible miss in the opening minutes, skewing the ball wide when he should have scored.

Atalanta went ahead minutes later. It was potentially looking like one of those nights for PSG.

But Neymar didn’t stop trying. His individual highlights from the encounter have emerged and they show a player who didn’t let the misses affect him and helped PSG turn it around.

Stunning.

It's a shame we haven't seen this Neymar more often but injuries have affected him this season.

But what a story it would be if he could lead PSG to Champions League glory. Doing so would certainly silence a lot of the former Barcelona star's critics.
