Dean Smith's side forked out £120m on new talent last summer and now they could spend another £100m on a handful of cherry-picked players.
It appears that despite rather wasting their money on only finishing 17th, they haven't learned their lesson - that's unless they sign proven players.
Villa's transfer window could be an incredibly busy one. They've been linked with cheaper moves for the likes of Fabio Borini but there are more eye-catching moves touted for individuals like Said Benrahma and Odsonne Edouard.

Wesley arrived for a club-record fee of £22m and only scored five goals while Mbwana Samatta's £8.5m switch garnered a solitary strike.
It's clear that the Midlands side haven't enjoyed the best of luck in the market but with new Sporting Director Johan Lange, that could change.
After all, Watkins is a first-class talent, someone who scored 26 goals in the English game this season.
Wesley and Samatta had never kicked a ball in English football so this is already a better start from Villa's talent spotters.
Add the fact that Smith has already managed the striker at Exeter and at Brentford, and you surely have a recipe for success.
