The club endured a difficult campaign, going through three managers and ending the season with Hayden Mullins in charge.
They began the campaign with Javi Gracia, who lasted until September, and then appointed Quique Sanchez Flores, who was in charge until December.
The appointment of Nigel Pearson appeared to offer some hope of survival but he was inexplicably axed before the final two games of the season.
Watford lost both, going down 4-0 to Manchester City and 3-2 to Arsenal.
Before his sacking, Watford also lost 3-1 to West Ham United.
Those three results ensured that they ended the season with 34 points from 38 games, ending the campaign a point off 17th-placed Aston Villa.
They are now preparing for life back in the Championship and there is every chance that a number of the club’s stars could depart in this transfer window.
Ismaila Sarr could be one such player, per The London Evening Standard.
Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and Wolves are all said to be interested in signing the 22-year-old, who enjoyed a productive season despite Watford’s relegation.
He scored five goals and registered six assists for the club in 28 games in his debut season as the club following his £30 million arrival last summer.
Watford made him their club record signing and they are now said to be demanding over £40m to sell him in this transfer window.
Palace were interested in signing him before he moved to Vicarage Road, the report states, but they could be priced out of a move in this window; Liverpool are instead said to be leading the race.
Watford are also likely to sell Abdoulaye Doucoure in this transfer window.

Sarr is a top-quality winger.
He has pace, tricks, and a keen sense of when to release the ball.
That is not an easy skill to learn, and it is no surprise that there are a number of clubs interested in securing his services.
If Palace are going to sign him, one has to imagine that they will need to cash in on Wilfried Zaha first, or else they face an uphill battle to be able to afford him.
At Liverpool, he would primarily be on the bench behind the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino, whereas at Palace he would be an almost guaranteed starter.
If a deal can be financed, the Eagles ought to try to do it.
