Wolves have enjoyed two exceptional seasons.

They were promoted to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season, winning the Championship by a comfortable margin.

The club lost just seven games all season and took 99 points from 46 games, staying nine points clear of second-placed Cardiff City.

Wolves took to life in the top-flight like a duck to water, as they finished seventh in their first season, and they have followed that up with another seventh-placed finish in 2019/20.

Across the past two seasons, and their 76 games, they have taken 116 points and lost just 22 games.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been in charge since 2017, overseeing their run to the top-flight, and their growth in the division.

And it now appears that Wolves are set to hand him a bumper new deal to ensure he stays at Molineux.

The Daily Star reports that he will be offered a contract worth £5 million-per-year, as he has just a year left on his current deal.

Wolves are also set to promise Santo that he will be given the funds needed to strengthen the squad this summer, as he looks to crack the top six in 2020/21.

Santo is said to believe that an injection of quality is needed, despite another seventh-placed finish and a run to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Wolves want to help make that happen, and are hopeful Santo will put pen to paper.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Tying Santo down is important.

He has worked wonders at Wolves, and has turned them into a genuine Premier League force.

If he is to be given the funds he needs to bring in some elite reinforcements in this transfer window, there is every chance they could be competing for qualification to next season’s Champions League.

If he doesn’t sign on the dotted line, one has to imagine that top clubs will be sniffing around whenever they have a vacancy.

He is perhaps the club’s most important figure; they can ill-afford to lose him.
