For once, Rangers FC have the opportunity to look down on their rivals. If a crowd could attend Ibrox at the moment, you can guarantee Steven Gerrard and the club's supporters would be revelling in their current setbacks.

The Hoops have had their next two games postponed and Boli Bolingoli has been rather foolish, failing to quarantine following a trip to Spain.

Of course, COVID-19 is no laughing matter, but there must be some element of glee Rangers can take in seeing negative press directed in the way of Celtic.

For the time being, the Gers will have the advantage in the race to win the SPFL. It's a rare occurrence but for once, they are on top of their rivals.

Rangers are currently five points ahead of Neil Lennon's men and have a real opportunity to now cash in over the next couple of weeks.

Add that to the fact that they're currently outmuscling them in the window too, and life is rosy on the blue side of Glasgow.

They've done well not to lose Alfredo Morelos yet and at the same time, they've acquired Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.

However, they are now at the centre of a transfer saga.

Reports two months ago suggested that the Gers were interested in signing Danish winger Andreas Skov Olsen.

Since that moment, though, we hadn't heard any progression on the deal. That was until this week when it was revealed that Rangers had made a loan bid to sign the 20-year-old.

That was rejected by Bologna who were unwilling to let him go unless they received an offer they couldn't refuse.

Yet, just a day later, it appears as though the Italian club are now more willing to let him leave temporarily.

It's funny just how quickly things but a report from Corriere di Bologna (via Sport Witness) refute those initial claims, saying that they could now be more willing to allow a loan deal in order to 'relaunch' his career.

Besiktas, Copenhagen and Real Sociedad have all shown an interest in the attacker.

Skov Olsen

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

As stated previously on GMS, it's incredibly hard to see where Olsen would fit in at Rangers - particularly because of the sheer number of attacking players they have in their ranks.

That being said, he'd certainly be an eye-catching addition for the SPFL.

The Denmark international racked up a mighty 26 goals last season and has been muttered alongside some of the most promising young footballers in world football.

Erling Haaland

L'Equipe's list of the best U20 players in 2019 saw Olsen top the likes of Manchester City's Phil Foden, Chelsea's Mason Mount and even Erling Haaland.

When you consider just how good some of those players are, it bodes well for the Dane. He may have scored just once since his departure from FC Nordsaelland but there is clearly a player of immense potential in there to extract.
