Leeds United have had an exciting week.

Buoyed by promotion nearly a month ago now, Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta have set to work in the transfer window.

It's been claimed that four or five additions would be made at first-team level, and we're already approaching something around that figure.

Joe Gelhardt, Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison have walked through the door while 16-year-old Charlie Allen joins the club's academy from Linfield.

Of course, the crown jewel would be Ben White. Leeds have had various offers knocked back for the defender who has become the centre of a Twitter hashtag #FreeBenWhite.

Brighton are keen to keep him but if the Whites can secure him, it would be a cracking piece of business, especially with Liverpool and Chelsea interested in his services.

That being said, Leeds need to crack on with other business and Orta is beginning to sink his jaws into the European market.

A move for Stuttgart's Nicolas Gonzalez has been touted while Brazilian defender Lyanco could also arrive.

Another name has now emerged, though.

That happens to be Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez. Now, this may be a player that Leeds fans have heard of before.

That's because Leeds were interested in the Uruguay international in March 2019, over 15 months ago.

That was before the 24-year-old was in Serie A but it seems his performances in Italy haven't deterred Bielsa.

A recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claims that the midfield general could be on the move. The two teams interested in his services are Leeds and West Ham.

Capped 31 times by his country, Nandez is a player that appears to be growing in stature.

He made the leap from Boca Juniors to European football last summer and became a vital cog for Cagliari, making 35 Serie A appearances.

Described as an "authentic fighter", it's clear to see where the midfielder has gained that reputation. He earned 14 yellow cards last season, completing 1.7 tackles per game and committing 1.3 fouls per match.

That may not be the most attractive of records but Leeds could do with someone as robust as Nandez when it comes to adapting to Premier League life.

Bielsa may have Kalvin Phillips at his disposal but he and the rest of the squad like to play a free-flowing brand of football.

Barring someone like Gjanni Alioski, it can be argued that Leeds lack someone that'll get in the opposition's face.

Given they could well struggle in the Premier League, signing someone of Nandez's calibre could actually assist them.
