This week has been one of the busiest in recent memory for Leeds United.

Fresh, or not so fresh from weeks of drinking after gaining promotion, they've been able to conclude a plethora of deals.

Whether it's permanent transfers, loan deals or new contracts, Victor Orta has been signing documents like they're going out of fashion.

At the start of the week we saw Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Allen arrive on permanent transfers before Jack Harrison quickly sealed his third loan switch to West Yorkshire.

Furthermore, Jamie Shackleton put pen to paper on a new contract at the club, capping off a wonderful period where he scored his first senior goal and also achieved promotion with his boyhood club.

It's been a special few weeks for not only Shackleton but also the entire Leeds squad.

Orta, however, has had no rest. In fact, he's never been busier.

Last week it was claimed by BILD that the Spaniard was flying through Europe in search of finding a striker for Leeds. However, the German publication was keen to state that he hadn't yet visited Stuttgart.

That was in reference to their pursuit of Nicolas Gonzalez.

The Mirror suggested recently that he was one of the options Marcelo Bielsa was considering for his attack and that he saw him as someone that could fit straight into their Premier League squad.

It now looks as though a move for the Argentine is beginning to materialise.

That's according to the All Stats Aren't We podcast. Speaking on their latest edition, published on Thursday, they revealed some intriguing information about the 22-year-old.

They stated:

"It seems as though we're looking at Nico Gonzalez quite seriously. Allegedly he's been over to Leeds and had a look around the training facilities and the stadium. I suspect he's the highest player on that list of left-wing positions."

If their information is anything to go by, then Gonzalez could well be a Leeds player in the not too distant future.

Considering the current plight of COVID, it would be rather strange if they brought a player over to have a look around the club's facilities if they weren't intent on buying him.

Leeds have primarily focused on domestic signings this summer - moves for Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma have been touted for example - but now it appears as though they're opting for the foreign market.

Nico Gonzalez heads the ball

Gonzalez is an eye-catching player and after scoring 15 goals in the Bundesliga last term, is certainly someone who can perform at the highest level.

Add his four assists to that, and you have someone capable of also aiding his teammates, something that is likely to delight Bielsa.

Capable of playing on the wing as well, his versatility is a noteworthy attribute of his game.

It wouldn't be a stand out signing for Leeds, but he'd certainly add good depth.
