Leeds United are a Premier League team. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

For the first time in 16 years, they will be competing in the top-flight of English football, a division that has become engulfed by multi-million pound TV deals and expensive signings.

Football has changed considerably since the Whites were last in the big time and the evidence is clear for all to see - they procured £200m just for achieving promotion from the Championship.

Victor Orta and co have already been busy spending that too.

They welcomed Illan Meslier through the door on a permanent basis from Lorient following the conclusion of his loan deal, while Jack Harrison sealed another temporary move.

Joe Gelhardt also became a Leeds player after leaving Wigan behind.

According to the All Stats Aren't We podcast, Stuttgart forward Nico Gonzalez could be the next arrival. He has supposedly already toured around Thorpe Arch and Elland Road

Leeds are yet to make a big-money signing of sorts, but one target could cost £15m.

That happens to be Harry Wilson. The Sun reported earlier this month that the Liverpool man may leave with Aston Villa and Newcastle also interested.

Claims that Leeds like the player have now been backed up by The Athletic's Phil Hay.

Speaking in the latest edition of his podcast, The Phil Hay Show, he declared that Orta had been a fan of the 23-year-old for a while.

“They’re absolutely interested," Hay began.

The journalist then added: “Leeds always say to me that any time Orta does a list of potential targets or players that he likes, Wilson is always on it.

“They’re a big fan of his, I think they would have been keen previously had it been possible, but obviously Liverpool did the loan down to Bournemouth.

“The talk of interest in him is absolutely credible. Whether or not it’s one that Leeds really expect to happen this summer or really intend to do, I’m not so sure.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Is this really any surprise?

After all, Bielsa has hailed him in the past and the attacking midfielder was the subject of a dedicated segment of the Argentine's press conference after Spygate.

Part of the Derby squad that was spied on by someone from Leeds, they will have been analysing Wilson for over two years now.

In the 2018/19 Championship season, the Liverpool man bagged an impressive 18 goals and also created six strikes for his teammates.

With Bournemouth in the Premier League, he found the net just seven times, but he showed that he more than has what it takes to perform in the top-flight.

If Bielsa can extract more consistency from the Welshman, he'd be a top-drawer acquisition.
