Elland Road looks set to be a hotbed of transfer activity this summer.

After securing promotion from the Championship Leeds United face the huge challenge of preparing for life in the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were dominant in the second tier last term, making their campaign look relatively easy.

But next season will be a completely different ballgame.

Every club that Leeds will face next term will boast extraordinary and that means that each week will be a major battle to pick up points.

Supporters will be keen to push themselves as far up the table as possible, but in reality the sole must be to finish the season with their head above water.

If Leeds are to do that then signing players is a must.

Plenty of positions have been tipped as areas to improve, but none more-so than in goal.

Illan Meslier and Kiko Casilla had previously looked set to compete for the number one jersey, however it seems that the latter could be moving on.

The Spaniard faces an uncertain future after being found guilty of making racist remarks last season.

While Casilla has served his suspension, reports earlier this week claimed that the stopper is looking for a move after being deemed surplus to requirements.

While that exit is far from confirmed, Alex Bruce believes that being told that he will be second choice is what it will take to force Casilla out of the club, meaning that a 'top' new addition will be a priority.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bruce said: "It’s not like being number two as a centre forward or anywhere else on the pitch.

“If you’re number two as goalkeeper it normally means you’re going to be sat on your backside for the rest of the year, so it’s whether he can cope with that mentally.

“If he wants to play he’s going to have to move on, if he is happy to sit and wait for his chance, only he can answer that question.

“I think they will be signing a top goalkeeper, they’ve been linked with a few haven’t they so I’d be very surprised if they don’t bring one in.

“It’s such a vital position in the team, especially coming up from the Championship, you’ve got to make sure whoever you’ve got between the sticks is going to do a decent job.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This makes perfect sense for Leeds United.

Kiko Casilla has no future at the club after what happened last season - especially playing in the Premier League who are renowned for a strict no-nonsense approach to racism.

It would have been impossible for him to come back and so moving on seems like the only option.

Regardless of that situation, Leeds could benefit from a new goalkeeper coming in with real experience.

Illan Meslier may be the number one at the moment, but he's incredibly young which means that a season in the Premier League is a massive ask.

If the Whites can sign an experienced stopper to aid his development then that would be ideal.
