Arturo Vidal became a figure of ridicule for Barcelona during their 8-2 humiliation against Bayern Munich on Friday night.Admittedly, there wasn't a single player in Quique Setién's squad that could hold their head high after the Champions League humiliation, but the result was particularly hard to take for Vidal. Not only was the 8-2 drubbing dished out by the club he departed to join Barcelona, but his overconfident pre-match comments were made to look very silly in the process.

Vidal's pre-match comments

The Chilean rather amusingly remarked: "Bayern will be playing against the best team in the world: Barca. They aren't playing against some random Bundesliga team.

"It's going to be a proper football game. They better be ready for us, because we're looking forward to the challenge."

Yeh... because the best team in the world is often knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals by a six-goal margin.

Brutal night for Barcelona

Sadly for Vidal, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Barcelona were indeed 'some random Bundesliga team' and the midfielder was hardly a shining light amongst his side's woeful defending.

But if there's anything you can't criticise Vidal for, it's his effort and branding himself as an indefatigable force in midfield is why so many top European sides have bought him.

And while gritting his teeth wasn't enough to save himself from humiliation against Bayern, footage from the game suggests that Vidal did indeed put in a shift.

A viral video has shown Vidal's exhausted reaction after Robert Lewandowski headed home Bayern's sixth on the night from Philippe Coutinho's cross.

Did Vidal almost vomit?

And while the two Bayern stars were seen celebrating together, Vidal made a weary approach to the advertising hoardings, which he proceeds to lean over in visible exhaustion.

The Sun even suggested that the 33-year-old 'looked close to vomiting' during the clip and it's hard to disagree with them when you consider some of the strange motions Vidal is seen making.

You can check out the footage down below:

Whether or not Vidal was indeed about to spew beside the pitch, there's no denying that the clip shows exactly what Bayern inflicted upon their opponents.

You only have to look at the match highlights to see how brutal playing against Bayern appears to be and clearly trying to keep pace with his former employers sucked the energy out of Vidal.

And the clip is all the more scary when you consider Bayern weren't finished there, proceeding to score two more goals courtesy of Coutinho with Vidal remaining on the pitch for both strikes.

We dread to think what state he was in by the time the eighth goal rustled the net, though we suspect he wasn't the only Barca player that was blowing out of their... yeh, you get the picture.
