Barely anyone at the start of August expected Lyon to qualify for the Champions League semi-finals.Most would have predicted Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus to eliminate the French side in the last-16, but Lyon stunned the Italian champions in Turin to progress on away goals.Rudi Garcia's side were then drawn against the mighty Manchester City and once again, no one really gave them a chance. But it's Lyon who're extending their stay in Lisbon after beating Pep Guardiola's side 3-1 in the Jose Alvalade Stadium last night.Goals from Maxwell Cornet and Moussa Dembele (x2) sealed a famous victory for the French outfit and they will play Bayern Munich in the semi-final.Dembele vs Man CityIt'll be a tough ask to beat the German champions, but Lyon do have quality in abundance - especially in the form of midfielder Houssem Aouar. The 22-year-old has been attracting the attention of Europe's elite for quite some time now and his performance against City was proof that he's a superstar in the making. You can watch Aouar's highlights below.

City's midfield just couldn't handle Aouar. The Frenchman's ability to keep the ball under pressure was key in helping Lyon advance up the pitch.

Aouar assisted Dembele's first goal of the evening and it was also the midfielder's shot that was parried by Ederson in the build-up to Lyon's third goal.

Kevin De Bruyne was asked by RMC Sport after the game to name the one player from Lyon that had impressed him.

The Belgian replied: "There is Aouar who had a good game today."

Aouar in action

You have to be pretty darn good to earn praise from the best midfielder on the planet right now.

After Aouar's performance in Lisbon last night, you wouldn't bet against City lodging a bid to sign the Frenchman ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Aouar, De Bruyne and Rodri as a midfield three? A mouthwatering prospect on paper.
