He scored 25 goals and assisted 21 in La Liga, and he’s also WhoScored’s third-highest rated player in the Champions League.But the 33-year-old will be left to reflect on a campaign that ended without a major trophy.Not since 2014/15 has Messi won the Champions League with Barcelona and as each year passes, his chances of adding a fifth winner’s medal to his collection becoming slimmer.That's because it’s tough to imagine Barcelona, who are currently in a real mess from top to bottom, competing for the European trophy for quite a few more years.

For despite all of his success, it’s not always easy being Messi.

From being asked by his young son about criticism from journalists to those heartbreaking defeats with Barcelona and Argentina, it serves as a reminder of the unfair pressure that Messi has to cope with.

You hear about the salary and see the individual accolades. But many forget that Messi is human and that he has feelings, like the rest of us.
The story he tells about his young children hearing the negative stories about him is truly sad.
He deserves better on and off the pitch.
